Doing great.  Yeah I had originally intended to write something specifically for that video but it has been sitting on my computer for like two years so I decided to put that Zambra on  it just cause that is the latest thing that I have done.  The Zambra is actually the Flamenco that has the most moorish influence and many conservative Spaniards would probably tell you that Flamenco is not Spanish music, but that has to do naturally with some deep rooted prejudice that goes  back before the country was unified.  The story behind the video besides being my vacation footage from 06 is that I was trying to illustrate the idea that Mexico city was built on top of Tenochitlan.  Well the whole story of DF is complex and fascinating but suffice it to say that the message on that plaque makes a powerfull statement " It was neither Triumph nor defeat but the sad birth of the Mestizo "  btw that metal band you had was pretty intense and I must say very ambitious for being instrumental.

Hey, yes I am going to have it recorded soon and I will be posting it up. The piece started off serial but I soon found the need to alter notes and phrases which broke away from the Schoenbergian style of Serialism. I have been reading through your etude. I thank yo so much for the dedication, I will be also recording it soon. I am having my guitar teacher Rey Guerra help me with the interpretation and means of performance. How is New York? I would love to study up there one day. I am writing a piece for brass trio that was requested by New World Faculty ensemble and I am writing a piece for Steel Pan. I met a very good steel pan player that plays classical music on the pan. He is gigging in New York now and will be coming back to Miami soon. You should write some chamber music for him (it is a very interesting and new instrumentation in classical music[the organization of the notes on the pan also lends itself to some interesting patterns and chordal intervallic combinations) Take care Juan, keep writing your music. You all ready have a personally-developed style! You will be very successful!!

Juan

Well thanks...Im glad people like the name...as far as the solo guitar thing its really just a sample of the music the band plays as a whole...but we havent yet had a chance to record as awhole yet and we are still in the writing process...developing our first whole concept album...We are going to develop 2nd guitar parts to make up for the lack of keyboard for now ands we'll see how that goes...and Interpol, I couldnt tell you I have ever heard one of their songs...sorry : )

thanks again.

Thanks, Juan! My wife thinks I've got The Cure "out-gloomy'd," but I think my mood at the moment had more to do with that than anything.
I dig your music!
