Jubilee Dance Theatre, Inc. (JDT) was founded in April 2002 and incorporated in February 2003, under the direction of Luctricia “Lu” Welters and the assistant artistic direction of Claudine Carter-Pereira. This multicultural company’s main focal point is to encourage and educate its audience through entertainment by use of a variety of dance styles, including ballet, modern, jazz and hip-hop, infused with imagery, performed with passion and heart: a creation that is visually appealing to all. As a non-profit corporation, JDT has found a way to link their art to the community, achieved through performing in intimate settings, giving lecture demonstrations, teaching within local schools and providing opportunities for members our South Florida community to experience the magic of performing. The company’s philosophy is to give its gifts back to the community. Jubilee Dance Theatre is setting a new standard of dance in the South Florida area, by creating an outlet for artistic expression, through dance. JDT’s goal is not only to entertain its audiences but also to express and bring awareness about economic, political, and social issues.
