ADVENTURES OF THE DIVA005 SPY TEAM
CHAPTER III
The Defeat of the Gray Wolves
We found ourselves inside an enormous room full of high tech military equipments; a large table with a map of Wisconsin laying on it; projectors showing Kettle Moraine State Forest; we could see the grey wolves checking the trees and rocks and we saw Officer Beluga driving one of the many military jeeps. In the space there were about twenty feral cats, ten dogs, eight squirrels and five nightingales busily rushing around doing things like speaking on their telephones, cellular phones, walky-talkies as well as pointing at the map, making marks and talking loud while looking at the projectors; and tirelessly faxing papers and taking faxes from a big all in one machine by the wall.
Lieutenant Macarena: This is our military base. As you can see we are very busy working out the details of this combat. Everyone!-he yelled. The other animals stopped and looked up. - This is the DIVA005 spy team from New York. They are here to help us. –The animals started clapping and cheering as we waved at them.
Lieutenant Macarena: Please step closer to the table. Meet Major Deegan, our leader at the Kettle Moraine district. –a Great Dane turned around and smiled at us.
Major Deegan: Good evening DIVA005, I hope this little incident in our great state won’t leave a sour note in your mouth.
Pasha Belle: Nice to meet you Major Deegan.
Peggy Sue: So good to meet you.
Cashin’ Calay: Your fellow citizens have been showing great hospitality.
Tsar: Except for the grey wolves, they have been quite naughty.
Da Mouse: But nothing that we cannot handle.
Major Deegan: We can sure use your help. Tonight we will attack their first base in the forest. Last night they took the life of our beloved Major Darius Septimus and we cannot let them get away with it. Justice must be served.
Pasha Belle: What can we do for you?
Major Deegan: Lieutenant Macarena will show you to our dining area where you can eat and freshen up. I need you all to report back here at exactly 21:00 o’clock. – he shook our paws then left the room.
Lieutenant Macarena: Do you have any questions to me?
Da Mouse: Yes, what are those X marks on the map?
Lieutenant Macarena: Those are showing us where the grey wolves are and those little figurines you see are our bases throughout the state of Wisconsin.
Pasha Belle: I think everything is clear; we can now go and freshen up a bit.
Tsar: …and eat a little more…
Lieutenant Macarena showed us through another door which led us into a small hall with three archways pointing at three different locations.
Lieutenant Macarena: If you follow to the right you will end up at our kitchen and dining area. If you follow straight you can get to our bed chambers and to the left…well don’t follow to the left because you will end up at the sewage. Please follow me.-he said and kept to the right.
We were delighted to see a large dining room with a long table made of several logs and twenty two chairs. The table was already made on one section for us. The menu was heavenly as we were all very hungry from the long trip.
Lieutenant Macarena: Please sit down and eat. The dinner tonight is Coriander, Fennel, and Pepper Crusted Tuna with Watermelon Salsa. I’m afraid we will not be able to accommodate you with dessert; Colonel Skip Dover has a soft spot for apple crisps.
Tsar: No apple crisp?-he asked –That’s my favorite-said Tsar with a low voice lowering his head as he caught our looks.
Cashin’ Calay: Lieutenant-she said turning to Lieutenant Macarena- I think this is plenty enough and if I might say very fancy, too. We cannot express our gratitude toward our meal, even if some of us are quite gluttonous.-and she looked at Tsar and Da Mouse whom were already stuffing their faces with the greatest pleasure and food leftovers on their whiskers.
Pasha Belle: Lieutenant would dine with us?
Lieutenant Macarena: I already ate Miss Pasha Belle and please call me Macaroni.-he said with a smile as he looked at Pasha Belle who got a bit red on her cheeks but smiled back. I will send Private Jelly Belly and Private First Class Crashing Thunder; they will bring you to our operation point outside. Please enjoy your dinner.-he said and left the room.
Pasha Belle: He is very nice, don’t you all think?
PeggySue: Yes, Pasha, very nice…-I smiled
Cashin’ Calay: …and very handsome…- we both looked at Pasha Belle and made a dreamy face while blinking at her direction.
Da Mouse: Are you going to eat that Pasha Belle?-he asked while trying to snitch her tuna away with his fork. Pasha grabbed her fork and gave Da Mouse a Diva look.
Pasha Belle: Enough said, let’s eat, and you-pointing at Da Mouse-better not touch anything on this plate.
As soon as we finished our dinner we heard a chirping noise and a deep sound coming from the hallway.
Jelly Belly: What are you talking about, that is a complete absurd, first of all that could never happen…
Crashing Thunder: But what if it would and what if it DID BELLY-O?
Jelly Belly: Oh, no you didn’t! Did you just call me Belly-o again? How dare you? I will cut off your whiskers while you’re sleeping Thunder.
Crashing Thunder: Ha, ha, ha. You will need to grow fifty more inches in order to do that.
Jelly Belly: That’s it. From now on, I am watching you…very closely…you better sleep with one eye open.
At that moment they turned right into the dining area.
Crashing Thunder: Good Evening Diva005.
Jelly Belly: We are here to collect you all. Howdy? I am Private Jelly Belly and this is my partner Private First Class Crashing Thunder.
Crashing Thunder: I hope you enjoyed your dinner…we haven’t eaten anything yet, but I hope you had a nice meal.-he said with a sarcastic face while he was staring at our plates.
Jelly Belly: You really don’t know how to present yourself, do you?-and she stared at Thunder-How many times did I tell you not to whine to strangers?
Crashing Thunder: I did not whine, I am just making an observation.
Pasha Belle: Excuse me. I don’t mean to interrupt your idyllic interlude in here but aren’t we supposed to get ready for combat?
Jelly Belly: That’s it, you see what you did Thunder? You are nothing but a big baby and now you made the fancy cats upset.-she said with disappointment on her face-forgive him Miss Diva Belle.
Pasha Belle: It’s Pasha Belle.-said Pasha Belle with an annoyed voice.
Jelly Belly: And it is a nice name, very nice. Are you all ready for this mission?
Da Mouse: We were ready before you even entered.
Tsar: Let’s go my furry friends.
Crashing Thunder: That’s the spirit. Follow us!-and with that last sentence the alarm went off in the cave. It was extremely loud and head breaking. Jelly Belly jumped on Crashing Thunder and we all followed him running. We saw the other animals running around in helmets and vests. We followed Belly and Thunder into one of the base’s main garage where Belly jumped into an overland and Thunder on a motorcycle. They both put their helmets on.
Jelly Belly: Go ahead fancy cats, take any vehicle you can get. Put on the helmets and the ear pieces so we can stay in touch throughout the operation. Once I open the door to the forest there is no way back. We fight until our last breath!!!-and with that she led out a victory cry.
Crashing Thunder: Let’s do this Belly-O!
Jelly Belly: How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that! I will give you up to the wolves, I swear this time I will do it!
Crashing Thunder: Yeah, yeah, yeah, how many times did I hear that in the past five years?
Jelly Belly: You are ridiculous. I will report you to Macaroni Macarena!!!
While they were arguing back and forth Pasha Belle stepped into a waiting hummer.
Pasha Belle: A Diva never hops, skips, jumps and such. That’s just pure nonsense.
Cashin’ Calay and I chose to sit with Pasha Belle since we each missed a paw, we aren’t able to drive or turn the wheel. In this way while Pasha Belle drives we can use our weapons to defeat the grey wolves. Tsar and da Mouse followed Crashing Thunder and each chose a motorcycle. We put our helmets on that we found in our vehicles, put our ear pieces in our ears and gave the signal to Jelly Belly that we are ready.
Jelly Belly: Thunder, pull the doors!
Crashing Thunder pulled a chain from the ceiling, which moved the wall from front of us and we were all of the sudden in the clear air. We moved fast away from the oak so the wolves wouldn’t know where we came from. There was no use of that since they were already everywhere. I saw our fellow fighters on paws and wings fighting the enemy. Macaroni Macarena was leading a land rover with three other animals. Gun shoots and rifle sounds break the silence of the forest. It was a full moon on the sky but you could barely see it from the gun powder dust and fog that were dominating the night.
Crashing Thunder: Belly-O can you hear me?
Jelly Belly: Hear you loud and clear Thunder. Diva005 are you alright?
Cashin’ Calay: We are all o.k. in the car. Tsar? Mouse? Give me a sign.
Tsar: I am ok.
Da Mouse: Me, too. I am riding toward the river. Tsar is right behind me. We see the enemy on canoes crossing to our side.
Tsar: We’ll stop them coming through.
Pasha Belle: I am planning on getting Beluga. In my opinion where Beluga is Detective Scooter will be there.
Peggy Sue: I can see him Pasha Belle. 45 degrees north from the oak.
Pasha Belle: Let’s do this ladies with class and elegance.
Cashin’ Calay: Get them Pasha Belle!
We moved quickly toward officer Beluga’s car. He saw us coming from the distance. His eyes lit up in rage and started shouting. He jumped down from his vehicle with ten other wolves and Detective Scooter with his paws in chains behind him. They moved into a clearing as we were coming closer and closer. We stopped our car and continued on our paws. I was never so motivated in my life as I was right now to kick this nasty wolf in his patooty. I am sure the others felt similar. Pasha belle jumped first and within a minute she catfu down two wolves. Calay kept taking pictures while kicking another wolf in the stomach. I did as the others, fought with my claws and knees. Then the remaining wolves including Beluga circled us. All of the sudden there were at least twenty of them. Pasha Belle kept her focus on Beluga. At that moment Lieutenant Macarena jumped in the middle of the circle with Tsar and da Mouse. There were six of us now. We jumped in all directions and fought like never before. Officer Beluga pulled out a sword and went right against Pasha Belle. She jumped away and gave a good kick to his back. Beluga fell on the ground but jumped up right away. He got even more upset and tried to hit Pasha Belle but before he could reach her face a strong hand grabbed his arm. It was Lieutenant Macarena who twisted Beluga’s hand and wrestled him to the ground until Beluga gave up. Pasha Belle smiled at Lieutenant Macarena who smiled back at her. Meanwhile Cashin’ Calay ran to Detective Scooter and freed him.
By the time the sun came up the grey wolves were captured and thrown into jail everywhere in Wisconsin. As you can imagine we were not the only freedom fighters in this state.
A couple of hours and sandwiches later we were standing at the door of detective Scooter with Lieutenant Macarena, Crashing Thunder and Jelly Belly.
Detective Scooter: I don’t know how to thank you for all your help. You were all so brave and real great at fighting those wolves.
Pasha Belle: Please, don’t even mention. We just did our job.
Lieutenant Macarena: Don’t be so modest Miss Pasha Belle, you were amazing.-and he smiled at Pasha Belle who for once started to blush.
Jelly Belly: Any who, those wolves will be in jail for a long-long time but I am afraid some of them escaped and already out of Wisconsin.
Crashing Thunder: At least our cats are safe and nobody has to be afraid of being shot.
Detective Scooter: We have to vote for the spay-neuter program so this would never happen again.
Peggy Sue: I hope that day will come soon and I hope that your politicians will listen to your advice. It isn’t that hard and it will save many lives.
Detective Scooter: Well, I also have some news for you about your friends, Duke and Dora Dencer. They got out of Wisconsin days ago and headed north.
Cashin’ Calay: How about Spotsy?
Detective Scooter: I am afraid he is still in their paws. We found this note in the Marsh Cheese Factory. It reads: “The baby seals will cry without their fur…” and the note ends.
Tsar: What does that mean?
Crashing Thunder: It means that they are cold.
Jelly Belly: I wish that you wouldn’t say anything when you don’t know anything.
Cashin’ Calay: That’s where the baby seals are crying because the side-striped jackals are hunting them down for their fur.
Pasha Belle: Hopefully we can find Duke and Dora there. We kindly thank you for your help and hospitality but we must continue on our journey.
We said our goodbyes, Pasha Belle and Lieutenant Macarena perhaps said it longer than we did, and we were back in our car driving north towards the great state of Alaska.
