  • Bio

I grew up in Austin, Texas and began singing as young as I can remember but it wasn't until my sixteenth birthday that I received my first guitar. It was a Ventura acoustic six string. I don't remember much about it though. I traded that guitar in on a Yamaha 12-string that I traveled the world with Via The US Marine Corps. I recorded my CD titled From The Heart (www.cdbaby.com/judgefletcher) with that guitar in 1987 and played it daily until late 2005 when the bracing under the bridge finally had all it could stand and warped. (You can hear that guitar on both Baby Come Home and Country Roads.) Maybe someday I'll get it repaired but for now I purchased a Gibson J-45 and couldn't be happier. That guitar's tone matches my voice in a way I never thought possible. I'm using this guitar on The Greenleaf Lament and Ring of Fire and you can clearly hear the difference between it and the 12-string. With my Gibson in hand, I am singing all over the Chicago area and sometimes get the opportunity to venture out from the city and suburbs to little towns in western and southern Illinois. That's what I love about what I do. Traveling to different places and meeting interesting people. It's one thing I'll never get tired of. I have always played a solo set but in 2006 I joined a band named Robbins and Wheeler and played rythymn guitar and sang back up vocals with them until mid 2007. We recorded a full length CD in Nashville titled Bring It Back which has enjoyed some modest airplay.
