It all started in the church choir at Holy Trinity Church in St. Philip, Barbados. It was in her early years that Judy Bailey exchanged the traditionally overcast skies of London where she was born, for a life under the Caribbean sunshine of the small Antilles island of Barbados.
At 17 she started to play guitar and write her first songs. It did not take long for the remarkable talent of this young woman to be recognised: Her first production promptly won her the coveted award "Gospel Album of the Year" and with Reggae Legend Eddy Grant ("Gimme hope Joanna", "Electric Avenue"...) as producer, Judy Bailey recorded the album "Between you and me". Further albums follow, recorded in Nashville, London and Germany. Musically and intellectually the now established songwriter orients herself increasingly to the sights and sounds of the city of her birth, London, where she finishes up her studies qualifying as a psychologist.
Music for Judy is however much more than therapy. The distinctive blend of her religious roots and her concept of pop music results in a unique style, which has enthused several thousands the world over. Besides her concerts and large festival performances throughout Europe (eg. England, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, Greece), she also tours in America (Canada, Brazil, USA, Caribbean), Africa (South Africa, Congo, Tanzania, Senegal) or Asia (Hong Kong & Singapore). In summer 2008 Judy and her band play in Australia (Melbourne and Sydney) for the first time, making it her fifth continent with music.
Judy is a world musician and world citizen. Her vision is to build bridges and heal divisions, to awaken hope, faith and the joy of living. As ambassador for the international relief organisation World Vision, she fights for awareness and support, especially for people in Africa.
Judy Bailey now lives in Germany. After years of live performances literally all over the country, and increasing radio and TV presence, she is enjoying an ever growing popularity. The first single off her album "Found the Sun" made it straight into the German singles charts. With "Du bist nicht allein" ("You are not alone") she hit Top 10 as part of the artist community "Zeichen der Zeit" (eg. Xavier Naidoo, Patrick Nuo, Yvonne Catterfield). The same year found Judy supporting German No.1 band Soehne Mannheims on their "Can you feel it" tour, leaving thousands in the sold out venues already jumping well before the main act hit the stage. A special friendship has developed with the "Mannheimers". Various of the "Soehne" worked along on her last 3 albums. Most recently it's Metaphysics and Kosho who can be heard as special guests on her 7th album "Surrounded". Jimmy Kelly also lends his voice to make Judy's first Live album simply a unique and unforgettable experience.
In 2005 as a part of the World Youth Day she performed before 400 000 youth from all over the world. In 2008 she was there again, this time in Sydney, playing 4 massive festivals at the world's biggest youth event with her internationally broadcast performance before the Vigil. Claire Atkins, the Creative Director of WYD08 Youth Festival says: "Judy was our pick to get 250 000 young pilgrims grooving before their meeting with Pope Benedict XVI and they did not disappoint! All I can say is watch The Judy Bailey Band space – they are BIG!"
So here you have it: African-Caribbean grooves and hit melodies, singer-songwriter roots combined with a progressive Pop edge, a fantastic band alongside Judy's shining charisma - all simply inspiring. This passionate earthy voice from an artist who truly has something to say is sure to win your heart. It is the strong soulful woman who moves audiences from the first to the last row and makes you feel how irresistibly contagious rhythm laced with loads of love can be.

I understand that most of you don't speak German and are not able to upload videos because of the language barrier. If you would like me to upload your videos to the German video websites, please let me know.
