  • Bio

For many years, people have been asking Judy Marshak the same question: “When are you going to make an album?”. But with a busy acting career and two kids to raise, it was hard to find the time. Well, she finally found the time and the CD has finally happened. It’s called “A Matter of Time” and it is the crowning touch of an illustrious career. Long known as a “singer’s singer”, Judy’s rich, luscious, perfect-pitch voice has been one of the best kept secrets in the music business. .... Her fans have been only those lucky enough to see her perform - as Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast, or as Marilla in Anne of Green Gables, or as 'Mrs. Tottendale' in "The Drowsy Chaperone" or more recently as Rosemary Clooney in the premier of the new musical "Clooney Tunes" or dozens of other roles showcasing her incomparable voice. Or they may have seen one of her highly praised solo cabaret shows or her performances with jazz vocal trios like "Triple Feature", "Airwaves", and "Ruby, Dick, and Joan". .... The list of Judy’s achievements goes on and on, and culminates in this heartfelt CD that Judy regards as the pinnacle of her career. And her fans will be surprised. They know her as an astounding interpreter of the songs of others. Now they will also know her as an astounding songwriter. Reflecting turning points in her personal life, “A Matter of Time” is a heartfelt album of soulful, sometimes whimsical, sexy, grooving, feel good music, sure to touch you in many ways. .... With esteemed jazz artist John Alcorn as producer/collaborator coupled with some of Toronto’s finest musicians - Rob Piltch, Marc Rogers, Denis Keldie, Guido Basso and Davide Direnzo - the sound is lush and layered. Add Judy's unique vocal style, a delicious blend of innocence and soul - a little Blossom Dearie, a little Carmen McRae – and you have a warm and intimate CD that has been well worth the wait. .... ..buy ..A Matter of Time.. on iTunes..
