"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

Wow!!!! From a nation with less than half a dozen jug bands of any description to find a web site with over 300 - mind (and certainly jug) blowing!!! We sort of feel home at last!
Quick question: can any one tell us where to find a listing of the jug band festivals happening in 2010 in USA, Canada and/or Japan? Or does anyone have a pet festival coming up that they can tell us about? We're lookin' at the possibility of touring in the northern hemisphere sometime in 2010.
Hope you can make it to one of my shows!! Next one is April 3rd at the forestville club in forestville, Ca. The Rovetti Experience with The Sawdawgz!! Show starts at 9:00pm!!! So bring some friends and come on out!! It's going to be a blast!!!
Picked up a "new" jug on my road trip through Mississippi last week. Good shape, gotta clean the debris out, though. Found it in Coldwater, MS, driving from Senatobia up Hwy 51 to Memphis. You can see it in the picture I took at Will Shade's grave (along with his new gravestone) outside of Memphis.
