I'm Josiane (Josi Marie) Niyomukesha. Born in Rwanda...and moved to the states in 1999 due to the genocide back home. I've been dancing since the age of 5 (rwandese traditional dance, hip hop, jazz, modern) and it is my passion. I fell i LOVE with the Entertainment Industry at a young Age, while touring all aroung east Africa with my fellow entertainers, and The first time I say myself on the FRONT page of the Most Famous Magazine in Africa after doing a Dance Competition. I believe I was Eight Years old. From then On, It was ALL over... There was nothing else i wanted to do more that be involved in the Industry. As a young teen, i was always doing Shows; Dancing, Singin, Acting, Being an MC and Promoting for shows and Artists...Whatever it took for me to be on Stage, i did it (self-respect is a must though). At the Age of seventeen, I was recruited by the CEO of Urban Streets/Street Academy as a Hostess(TV), Dancer, and Model. This gave me A LOT of insight and showed me the GOOD and the BAD of the Industry, which I am still Thankful for. It showed me what i wanted to be, and i also was taught what i DIDN'T want to be. My objective is to be a VERY successful Business Woman in this industry, all by using my Talent and Intelligence, and Thus far, it is working in my Favor!! I decided not to get AHEAD by flashing my body here and there....(that's just not me) and because of this, The people i have worked with have Taken me More seriously, knowing that I do Demand that Respect. They see me as one of them at meetings, nothing more or less. Other than Urban Streets TV, I have done my own Independent work. When it comes to Promoting for myself and others, it is under my name (and it has been VERY successful). Hosting Show, most are in my independent Act, and they, too, are successful shows. Hood Legend Records was the next and current step in my journey to success. After a while, after CEO, Ryan POPE evaluated my work, he saw i was a great addition to the team. I am currently the promotions and marketing Manager of Hood Legend Records. I have a Promotions Team of beautiful classy women who help me do what i do best, Hustle. I am also working with DECK INC FASHIONS, as the promoter in many cities in Ohio. I've also done some work as a promotions model for the radio station, HOT 102.9 as an on sight 'PARTY GIRL'. A new life is about to start in a couple of days...
My move to to NY is more than just a move...
Its yet another step for me for greatness, i hope..
See, i came from a place where i didn't have shit to call My own sometimes..
Some of the earliest memories i have as a child, i was in a refugee camp...
In Zaire..
Sleeping outside, no blankets, ony grass mats to shelter us from cold nights (AFRICA AINT ALWAYS HOT!)
I wanted more than that....I swear i did... I needed MORE!!
So i started what i could do to get what i wanted...
Keep in mind i was ONLY 5 or 6!!
If i saw it, i'd get it one way or another...
i stole things,
fought for things,
I just needed to get it...
I guess it was from being spoiled RICH before
the Genocide in Rwanda,
Before we lost EVERY THING!!...
All i know is...Someone, somehow,
had robbed me of my Comfortable life...
and here i was struggling, my family struggling,
to find food for the next day...
I guess it was selfish for me to steal here and there to
eat for myself...when i had a family back home in Kenya,
But at the ages 5-10,
I thought more about myself than others...(sorry)
I could go on and on and on and on....
But look....i have this GREAT opportunity to be ANYTHING I WANT TO BE!!...
i have the ambition, courage, GUTS, and intelligence...
why not go for it!?!!?
In Africa, being a woman in a VERY cultured environment,
I doubt i would have a choice of what to become...
But i was granted the Gift of coming to America...
And there are opportunities ALL AROUND ME...
WHy not Take THEM???....
Well, i am taking the chance...

But Those Cultural Customs tie you down...
When your Millionair Parent will not Give you a CENT..
To help with Education...
When you have TOO MUCH PRIDE TO QUIT...(i admit it)..
Its a struggle i cant explain...
But like I said..
Giving up is NOT an option...
I'll struggle if i have to...
I've lived in a position where i didnt have anything before....
so how bad could it GET?...
Look AT ME...
I hope you dont see just a pretty face with a smile glued to it...
Behind these eyes...
Are things you'll never imagine...
In this heart...
Are feelings you don't want to feel...
But at the end of the day,
I'll try my hardest to keep my head up..
and a Smile on my Face...
Although i could be dying Inside...
Because thats just what you do...
