AFROBEAT / REGGAE / FUNK / AFRO-HIPHOP PARTIES AT THE TOUCAN, CARDIFF!!!
JUJU NATIONS showcases the funky and frantic music of WEST AFRICA – sweet afro-beats, highlifes, and afro-twist classic funks - and charts the diaspora’s movement through the CARIBBEAN and into North AMERICA and Western EUROPE.
This means CRAZY Afrofunks and Jujus, QUALITY Jamaican reggaes, rocksteadys and mentos and GUTSY thumping stateside funk.
The focus here is on the originals of the 60s & 70s, but we also bring it smack-up-to-date with African hip-hop, Afro-French rap, and South African Kwaito: booty shaking the dancefloors of the whole of sub-Saharan Africa, and now Cardiff to.
==================================
We are now on the LAST SATURDAY of EVERY MONTH.

- SO WHATS THIS JUJU THING THEN?
Juju is a West African concept drawing on Yoruba and Bantu influence. It can have different meanings, and its exact origin is disputed, but all agree it relates to a sense of positive energy and good luck embodied in an object, produced by a witchdoctor.
Juju is also a brand of Nigerian music, guitars and drums. Enthused and fuming, landscaped and spiritual, this is music from the heart.
