Gypsy Punk Cabaret and Pirate Blues Mayhem...
Think about Tom Waits with a hangover at a Screamin' Jay Hawkins gig in New Orleans, playing music by Muddy Waters, Danny Elfman and Mike Patton...then you're getting close to a hint of Juke Baritone & The Swamp Dogs.
Comprising of six members and a dozen instruments, the band teeters on the brink of destruction while pounding out their own brand of old world, swampy, cabaret industrial punk blues and wowing audiences at major events and venues with their highly entertaining and outrageous live performances that have the tendency to turn ordinary people into raving fans and make others walk out in disgust.
Blatant songs of boozing, women, drugs and politics, combined with some of the best musicians in Australia, an eccentric, energetic and engaging front man and a real message within the music, makes for a highly entertaining live music experience.
...this six piece turns horn-heavy blues on its head, slyly clamoring through 9 tracks of barely restrained cabaret-esque compositions that might just make the perfect soundtrack to your next night of unbridled debauchery... It's fun, but it's the kind of fun that might get you in trouble. The best kind of trouble.

Who is this crazy person really?
I get the impression Juke could be one of those drifter on-the-run-from-the-law forty-passport-seaman types that Tom Waits likes to sing about. Or even scarier and more poetic, he could be the mutated product of Waits’ imagination.

Grunge gets the blues
With hard driving Australian Rock based influences and a dirty sound reminiscent of a Louisiana gravel road, lyrics that are naughty and sometimes crude they'll probably never get airplay on American radio but hey, it's the Blues. Add to that a real message and you'll see why I like it.

Sounds Like
Tom Waits, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Nick Cave, Mr Bungle, Morphine, Leonard Cohen, Cabaret, Dresden Dolls, an extremely drunken weekend, Tom Waits with a hangover at a Screamin' Jay Hawkins gig in New Orleans, a quiet night that turns into a long weekend, 80% proof vodka, tequila for breakfast, a hundred dirty Russians drinking and dancing on tables, a f*%@ing good time... Hopefully it sounds different. So we've been told.
Just in case you missed it up the top....

Specimen will bring their special brand of glam mayhem, The Batcave to London again.
After last year’s wildly-successful 25th anniversary Batcave event, The Batcave returns to its original spawning ground of London’s West End on Sunday July 19 for another night of blasphemy, lechery and blood.

The 2009 Batcave will feature installations from exciting new artists of the ‘Dark London Underground’ and visuals from the upcoming ‘Welco
