Hi everybody.
I've been writing songs, singing and playing guitar since 1970. Somewhere along the way I picked up the harmonica, first playing more of a folk style and eventually playing blues harp. I also play electric bass, piano and a little bit of drums.
I've been singing since I was little, but it was high school chorus that really helped me develop my vocal ability. That's also when I first picked up the guitar (I "borrowed" my little brothers' guitar when he was taking lessons. He never missed it.) I started writing songs at the age of 13 and have been writing ever since.
Way back when, I won the coveted National School Chorale Award in '74, then won the Air Force Security Service Command Talent Show in '75 that sent me to the Air Force World Wide Talent Show. I didn't win, but it was a great experience.
Through the years I've taken some creative detours to pursue my other talents - writing novels and painting - but I've been playing small venues in the Coachella Valley since 2002 and in 2006 I was nominated Best Singer/Songwriter Female for the 2005 Coachella Valley Music Awards. That was quite a happy surprise. I didn't win that, either. LOL.
I'm in the process of making a CD (never ending process, that is), so the cuts I've uploaded are super rough which is why I opted to not let people download them. I'd rather wait until I have something really good to share. I'm learning new software which makes me drag my feet so... something good will come of it, I'm sure.
I've also just started offering beginning guitar and vocal lessons to kids of all ages (5-105) which is exciting for me. I've been teaching beginners informally for a long time and I decided to make it official.
