Bio:
Cape Town, Seychelles and Dublin make up just some of the places Julia has lived, and the last five years have seen Julia settle back into her native Wales.
Encouraged to start gigging solo off the back of a few successful openers, Julia and a friend hired the Norwegian Arts Centre, Cardiff, for a debut gig in January 2003. She went on to release a live recording 'Everything Under The Sun' selling all 500 copies in a matter of weeks with the help of HMV, Cardiff.
On moving to Dublin In July 2003, Julia became quickly immersed in the Dublin Circuit, playing along side Declan O' Rourke and The Hot House Flowers. She regularly featured live on radio, and won best act at an open mic competition in Dublin City - the money going towards a ridiculously high Gas bill!
With such a great response to her music, Julia set up her own label 'RedCase' in 2005 to release her music. To date, she has released several self funded CDs. Building up a fan base all of her own, Julia toured all over UK, supporting the likes of Damien Rice and Welsh songstress Amy Wadge.
In 2009, Julia gave birth to daughter Ayla and to this date has taken more time out to enjoy motherhood. She set up Zolibeau in December 2009, a fashion label dedicated to recycling and reinventing clothing to sell on and has been running upcycling workshops for the last year.
2011 saw Julia give birth to her second child, Ruben in March. She went on to play a few festivals during the summer and started recording some new material in September with the hope of finally getting out to tour again in 2012.
The autumn was alive and vibrant as Julia worked hard alongside sister Sarah continuing to promote Zolibeau. They organised and created a collection for a fashion show 'MADE' for The Made in Roath festival in October and started a Re:fash course, teaching people how to recycle thier clothing with great success.
With 2012 now in flow, Julia is set to record again during February and is enjoying writing songs again, something that in Julia's words has taken a back seat for a long time. With another collection to make for Spring/Summer, an exibition and a tour to book, this year has already got Julia bubbling with excitment!
Stay tuned.
