   Julia Holden's Blurbs
About me:
I am delighted to announce the July 3, 2007 launch of my second novel, ONE DANCE IN PARIS, following last year's A DANGEROUS DRESS. ONE DANCE IN PARIS is the story of too-tall misfit Linda Stone, who is resigned to her dead-end existence ... until a mysterious gift sends her on a search for the mother she never knew, who lived a life of unimaginable glamour and decadence as a Las Vegas showgirl and then as the queen of the Folies Bergère in Paris. Soon Linda finds herself stepping into her mother’s high-heeled rhinestone shoes and asking herself if she dares to love, and to dance her own dance.

If you enjoyed my first book, A DANGEROUS DRESS, you’ll love ONE DANCE IN PARIS. (And if you haven't read the first one, you'll love this one, anyway!) The new book is edgier, sexier, but still funny, glam, and oh-so-romantic. But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what some of my fellow authors (and wonderful MySpace friends) had to say:

“Enchanting and delightful, yet poignant and real, One Dance in Paris is one great read!” - Jen Lancaster, author of Bitter is the New Black and Bright Lights, Big Ass

“Poignant, funny, bawdy, and glamorous all at once. I’d certainly book a ticket to Julia Holden’s Paris.” - Zoe Rice, author of Pick Me Up

“One Dance in Paris is the perfect summer read … you’ll swallow it up in one gulp.” - Allison Winn Scotch, author of The Department of Lost & Found

“Fast-paced and delightful, One Dance in Paris sparkles like the City of Light itself.” - Kristin Harmel, author of The Blonde Theory

“A novel capturing the real Parisian atmosphère is a rarity worth noticing … a perfect treat for all the Francophiles out there.” - F.G. Gerson, author of 21 Steps to Happiness

And now, about me: I have spent considerable portions of my life in Indiana, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, California, and Paris (France, not Texas), although not necessarily in that order. For seven years, I served as a movie studio executive in L.A., and I still work in and around the entertainment industry. My family and I are in the process of relocating from Southern California to gorgeous, glorious Hawaii.

The first, and only, creative writing class I ever took was in high school. My teacher was a nice man who wrote college recommendations for me (I went) and encouraged me to pursue journalism (I didn't). The teacher's name was Mr. McCourt. Frank (Angela's Ashes) McCourt. Who knew?

Like Linda Stone, the heroine of ONE DANCE IN PARIS, and Jane Stuart, the protagonist of A DANGEROUS DRESS, I am deeply devoted to travel, fashion, and drinking lovely wines and cocktails in exotic locations. Also like Linda and Jane, I try to satisfy those cravings in Paris as often as I possibly can. Unlike Linda, however, I have not danced provocatively on the stage of the Folies Bergere. And unlike Jane, I have not met Giorgio Armani.

Yet.
Who I'd like to meet:
My readers, especially those of you who have been so incredibly supportive. Readers in general -- especially those who, like me, can't and won't stop reading, no matter how much real life and exhaustion get in our way.

And especially every reader who ever changed her life, or wanted to; and every reader who ever wore a really dangerous dress, or wanted to.

Other writers, especially those who, like me, lead double lives, don't even turn on the computer until the rest of the family is asleep, and pound away on the keyboard until we can't keep our eyes open any longer.

Hi there! I hope you're well, that life is wonderful, and that writing right now is exactly what you want it to be. :) I know, it's been forever. I'm rarely on MySpace anymore, but I do think about you! Where did your website go? (It's linked from my website/blog, I just noticed the link was down.) Take care. :)

I have officially not spoken to you for 1.4 million years. Alright not that long but wow... sorry! I hope all is going with with you and that you're enjoying spring showers and May flowers. Enjoying it between spurts of writing I hope. (hint, hint) It's so hard to find a good book lately! I'm counting on you...

:)

Hi, just stopping by to see how things are going and to let you know what is happening.

2009 is Harlequin's 60th Anniversary and they have a lot planned to make it a special year so be sure to watch my page and I will share all the news, like where to go to get 16 FREE eBooks. Also, I have a contest running in my blog titled The Perfect Time. Come check it out and you could win a free book, but hurry because today is the last day to enter! While there check out what inspired Nicola Cornick's most recent Historical release, Kidnapped: His Innocent Mistress.
