"...the gorgeous soft vocals of Julia Johnson...washed over us" - Natalie Odell, London Lite, 15th May 2009
Julia Johnson grew up listening to Broadway musicals, Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals, Peter and the Wolf, and playing the piano in a darkened room. She began to write and record her own songs while at school, and also took classical singing lessons from the age of fourteen. Her first gig was at the Kashmir Klub in April 2001, and a year later she met the producer and bassist Mark Maclaine and they formed the band Second Person. Together with drummer/musician Alvaro Lopez they made two albums, 'Chromatography' and 'The Elements' (the later funded by money raised by supporters on Sellaband.com).
Julia can be found playing at many of the beautiful singer/songwriter venues in and around London, including the Bedford, the Troubadour, the Regal Room, the Cobden Club, the 20th Century Theatre, and the Portobello Acoustic Sessions. In May 2009 she took part in London Songwriters Week. She is currently recording her debut solo album.

My new album 'The Long Way Round' is now available to buy from my website - 5 pounds for 12 songs painstakingly recorded, mixed and complete with exclusive artwork by Devil's Kitchen.
Sunshine vibes lovingly rendered in the timeless medium of rock 'n' roll with soul, country and blues inflections, and featuring guest performances from Claud Musker (guitar), Adrian French (trumpet) and Scott Durum (saxophone).

Hey Julia - Thanks for the friendship. It’s much appreciated. “Take me back to a simpler time” ... There are wars taking place in every country in the world ... some are just more obvious. Reach out and make a difference and the ripple will be felt around the world. It has to come from within each of us. Music can make a difference.
