literature, writing, music (generally speaking, that is), cello, bass, piano, singing (to be more specific), film, lovely coincidence, synchronicity, dogs, cats who act like dogs, country, rock n' roll, running, swimming, biking (oh my), pirates, dragons, zombies, you know, the usual ...

Music
I like anything and everything, but especially Mister Badger, The Dirtbombs, Boards of Canada, Zero 7, Portishead, Lily Allen, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington, Elvis!, The Broken Family Band, Ryan Adams, Kenny Rogers, Palace Brothers, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, The Phoenix Foundation, Blossom Dearie, The Free Design, Stevie Wonder(my favorite), Donny Hathaway, Les Paul, Mary Ford, Sly Stone, Bing Crosby, Brook Benton, Lou Rawls, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Massive Attack, The Magnetic Fields, Stephin Merritt, The Stone Roses, Imogen Heap, Weird Al Yankovic, Jens Lekman, The Little Ones, Voxtrot, Lamb, The Buzzcocks, The Briefs, The Ditty Bops, Jolie Holland, the Be Good Tanyas, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Allen Toussaint, The Pixies, Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Chopin, "The Umbrellas of Cherbourgh" soundtrack ... anything punk-like, funk-like, noisy, dirty, clean, pretty, jazzy, standardy, poppy, absurd ... also, original is good, so I like that too ...
Movies
"North by Northwest," "To Catch a Thief," "Charade," "The African Queen," "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," "Heavenly Creatures," "Clambake," "Dressed to Kill," and anything suspenseful, disturbing or otherwise psychologically messy and depraved. Funny is good and nice too: "Kicking and Screaming" (not the Will Ferrell one), "Drop Dead Gorgeous;" "Me, You and Everyone We Know;" "Eagle vs. Shark;" "Cannonball Run;" "Shaun of the Dead;" "Smokey and the Bandit;" "Sex and Lucia;" "Lovers of the Arctic Circle" (I just realized I LOVE Julio Medem); "Psycho Beach Party;" anything that makes Steve Guttenburg ("The Goot") look ridiculous ...
Television
"South Park," "The Simpsons," "Mr. Show," The Law and the Order (I prefer the law), nothing reality-based, please ... except for the crime reenactment one ... or "Paranormal State," "The Office" (American style) ... also, I'll admit I loved "The X-Files" and that I have been known to indulge in "Felicity" and "Gilmore Girls" reruns ...
Books
Anything by Tolstoy (Anna Karenina is my favorite), Steppenwolf, Crime and Punishment, anything Conrad, Ray Bradbury's opus(es?), Confederacy of Dunces, Masters of Atlantis and other Charles Portis pleasures I have yet to enjoy, Mary Elizabeth Braddon, Jane Austen, Marcel Proust, Gogol short stories are just wonderful as is anything by Miranda July, my own stuff ...
Heroes
Lenny, Squiggy, Yer Mom ... oh, and reenactment actors ... anyone that can juggle ... people that can rub their bellies and pat their heads at the same time ... Lorne Greene, Bill Cosby ...

About me: Here's just a tiny, limited list attempting to describe me: I'm the most creative person you might never meet; I once had a fairly wild sex fantasy dream about Fred from 'Scooby Doo'(I was six); I never make the same mistake more than twice; I am an uncontrollable insomniac which means I'm always available at odd hours; I will protect you from spoiled food and even yourself sometimes; I like to give gifts for no good reason, and they're usually really funny (I gifted a Chia Head once on an anniversary ...it wasn't quite appreciated); I hate parades, but I will go anyway just to torture myself; I'm a die-hard Cubs fan but find myself knowing nothing about the current team; I know the difference between jazz hands and spirit fingers; Your mom will love me because I can be sweet and nice and respectable on the outside, but you will love me because at the core of it all, I'm not; I've been told I exude hottness (with varying amounts of 't''s); I'm remarkably tall; I always refuse to clean up and I accept bribes.
I do marathons.
Also find me with my band Mister Badger
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone that can put up with me ... anyone that thinks it's wrong NOT to like cheese ... and anyone that loves to hate Phil Collins ... but, not too many anyones ... I'm rather busy these days ...
(Please don't randomly try to get me to add you without an email of explanation. I won't do it ... especially if you're a band ... and not even if you're really popular ... or really famous ...)
Happy Birthday Julia! I'm so sorry I thought about you all day yesterday. I suck because I'm writing and wishing you a day late. I hope you had a beautiful day! xoxo, Alex
I miss you so much that it hurts! I have been a mess and so concerned about my dad. I wish I could appear on your doorstep to see your lovely face. To whisk you away to dinner and to enjoy quite a few sips of champagne and fun conversation with you!
holy hell. i haven't logged into myspace in forever (well, mostly because nothing has HAPPENED on my myspace in forever since everyone seems to have jumped ship for facebook.) and crap if i don't have like 60 julia blogs to catch up on. well, that's my work time on monday sorted, then. hope your christmas was fab and merry and jolly and cuddly and chocolatey.hope your new year will be the same, but also drunky and hangover free. mine will likely be spent laying super low, maybe playing candyland earlier on and then gravitating toward scrabble later. don't be jealous.
Sad? Why such lonely eyes? I am in New York, drinking riesling with my friend. Where is your night of brightness? Change thy way, find your hope and meaning.
man, i haven't been on myspace in ages. only when i have alerts that something's happened... i'm so happy that something was you! yes, i'm very familiar with that song, but i can totally one-up you.
Dominic, the Christmas Donkey. heeehaaawwwwww. It would be SO BAD except that it seems every time I get into my car and turn the key, it's there, braying away. (And as for why my radio is turned to the Holiday Lite FM, I can blame a 4-yr old who's been begging for Christmas music since the day after Halloween, and who thinks I'm really mean for not putting up a Christmas tree yet because Target has had theirs up for WEEKS.) I know. I suck.
How's things? I've been meaning to write... it's just another reason I suck.
It's goooorgeous! And it's so liberating to get rid of hair that's been around awhile. Especially if it saw you through tough times. I dunno if it's literal or figurative, but it definitely stores up 'stuff' in some capacity. Viva le chop!
