ABOUT THE WRITER

My name is Julie Cornewell. I'm a 34 year old widowed mother of four wonderful children. Inbetween controlled chaos, I work on my writing and blogs.

In my early twenties, I decided to take a freelance writing course on a whim. It felt like I had found my calling.

It has been over a decade and the writing journey has sustained me when nothing else seemed to be able to. Through all the ups and downs of my life, I have learned this: Writing is love.

What I write:

  • Novels ~ I'm currently working on a mainstream romance. It is my first novel.

  • Short Stories ~ It's starting to become a lost art form, but I enjoy writing them. I particularly like writing flash fiction.

  • Memoir ~ I find writing about myself to be the most challenging. Facing the truth about yourself and your past can be emotionally overwhelming. Eventually, I would like to write a book length memoir.

  • Articles ~ I write articles about parenthood, being a widow, dating, relationships, dieting, fitness, and spirituality.

  • Poetry ~ I've written free verse poetry for several years. I love how you can say the most intimate things but camouflage them with symbology. I particularly enjoy writing haiku.

  • Blogs ~ I keep a number of blogs covering motherhood, homemaking, feminism, spirituality, getting back to nature, writing, and art.
    • Who I'd like to meet:
    I'd like to meet anyone associated with writing and publishing, be that a little or a lot. I want to get to know everyone from bloggers to professionals in the business.

    A PREVIEW OF MY BOOK:
         I heard Monte pull up outside. I knew it was him, because of the loud music. I heard the keys when they hit the kitchen counter. So, I quickly got myself together and pretended to be sleep. He got out of his clothes and slid under the covers next to me. I could feel him watching me, so I shifted a little bit. He began caressing my face, which is something he always did if I fell asleep before him. “Michelle, I’m sorry.” he whispered. I wanted to jump up and give him a piece of my mind, but instead I just sunk into his arms. He kissed me on the temple and whispered, “I love you.” At that moment the fact that he cheated wasn’t important anymore. I began to feel sleepy and I haven’t slept well in days. I needed the rest. And just like a newborn baby that was swaddled, I fell asleep.
