She and her twin sister, Kate, played guitar and sang at coffee houses and folk venues throughout high school. Her love of Brazilian music took her to Rio de Janeiro in the 1970's where she heard Milton Nascimento, Carlo Lyra, Luis Eca, Baden Powell and others. Returning to the United States, she lived in New York and heard all the great musicians around Manhattan, including Ron Carter, Jim Hall, Leon Thomas, Norman Simmons, Kenny Burrell and many more.
She currently resides in Los Angeles where she continues to sing and teach. She is listed in Leonard Feather's Encyclopedia of Jazz and has sung with jazz luminaries such as Ray Brown, Bill Cunliffe, Nat Adderley, Roy McCurdy, Alan Broadbent and Mike Wofford.
Hi Judy, My new CD "Lemonade" is out and you can hear samples on my myspace page. First one in 10 years! It was a joy to record, we did it as a trio, live in a circle, without headphones. I hope you are well and congratulations on your ongoing success!
Thanks for your friendship Julie and the great music!
Hope you will participate in our celebration of learning and leave a comment/advice for students as we prepare for the start of a new school year.
Peace, John

re:2006 recording credits. Obviously you are "traveling" with some pretty excellent musical company - Mike Wofford on piano and Tom Garvin as a producer. The tunes sound great vocally and instrumentally. A nice relaxed, swinging feel. Both competent and confident. I Love it!!!
