I play violin with rock/indie/experimental bands. I also do a little singing, a little trumpet, little vibraphone - whatever seems to work.
In the last few years I've toured mainly with Broken Social Scene and Do Make Say Think. Domakes played some shows in Japan last month and it was amazing. Met some really kind people there and would love to go back.
The songs here are by Ivy Mairi, Ghoststory, Hylozoists, and Lullabye Arkestra (posted with permission). And yes, I play violin on them.
Hopefully this year I'll get back to writing and recording my own stuff.
Thanks for listening,
Julie.
hi Julie :) my new album went out a couple weeks ago to all the CBC library... it has 'The Mom Song' on it... and there's a big tour coming up quick. Hope to see you around sometime or other :) be blessed, Matt
thank you for add julie, that is a real nice version of the cuckoo, and "the man who almost was" is epic. I haven't heard such a powerful piece of music in along time. This was my first exposure to "the hylozoists", so thanks for that too. peace, matt
OH MY GOD My band got compared to Domakesaythink....I'm so happy. http://itsnotthebandihateitstheirfans.blogspot.com/2007/12/two-way-monologues-65-rancho-relaxo.html xoxoxo
I normally don't do this, but I just wanted to comment on how mind-blowing the show was last Friday in Omaha. I haven't seen a concert that amazing in a long time. I know I speak for everyone in the room when I say please, please come back again in the future. Hopefully now that Broken Social Scene and Do Make Say Think have recently played in our fly-over state for the first time, everyone has found a reason to make stops on the next tours. We're not so bad, right?
You and DMST were amazing the other night in Asheville!!! I know this was your second Asheville show in less than a year, but please come back again before too long.
Hi Julie, really like the new song, very good. Are you going to be touring with BSS? I noticed you're on the new album. If so I'll see you when they come over to UK, or on your way over to Ireland again.
hey there Julie! I wanted to tell you I was just in your country...I got picked up to be Faith Hill's Personal Massage Therapist for the remainder of her Soul 2 Soul Tour...so now I KNOW what it's like to be on the road!!! I hope you are well and are enjoying the summer!! All my best, Jenni Jo
