Indies you should know (that I rock out to): AJ Bryce, Cinnamon Girls, Hollin Gammage, Kelly Neff, Zen Monkeys, Garrison Starr, MGMT (for my hippie fix), Alex Voegele
Other great music and strong people:Trent Reznor, Tracy Chapman, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Delirium, Poe, K's Choice, strong female artists of all genres, strong women, survivors.
Sounds Like
Tracy Chapman, Lisa Loeb, Jewel, Poe, and Butterfly Boucher tossed into a blender and set to puree. Or, it just sounds like indierockbitchfolk.
The full album - essential for all lesbians. Ohhh yes :)! A measly 10$ :)
Hate credit cards? You can snail mail it, but don't do that while I'm touring, or it'll be a long wait! Mail it to:

If I haven't gotten to your area...get ready. I'll be comin' through soon. And I'm ready to start an army. So watch for me, guitar and dykiness blazin, pissin' off the moral majority. :) I hope ya join me in startin' a long-overdue revolution.
Let us skip the pretentious musician bullshit, shall we? You don't mind? Well. Fine by me. (if you MUST have a professional bio, let me know and I'll get one to you).
That being said...
I'm Julie Schurr. Thank you so much for stoppin' by and checking out my music! So, a little bit about moi - I've been payin' my dues for quite a while now. Playing the guitar, singing, and writing music for about 12 years. However, I just got back into the swing of things full-force when I graduated from college a few years ago. Quit my job and hit the road. Hellll yes. Anywhoo, I'm an out lesbian, just in case you hadn't noticed. I'm proud of who I am and have the greatest respect for all of my "family" - all those who have braved this oh-so-intolerant world in order to live their truths. That is why I do what I do. I love my music, and I love my fans. I started writing music because I write better than I speak, and I sing better than I can express my feelings with mere words...I used to feel like I was the only one who felt the way I felt. Since I began performing, I have met so many who have shared my feelings - my joy, frustration, anger, hope. I have made more friends through living this dream than I ever thought possible. And you know, it sometimes gets frustrating, being a musician. But if you look at my comments below, you'll see just a few of the reasons why I keep going when I feel like it's me against an impossibly huge industry wall. I love what I do, but your encouragement makes it beautiful.
So, I play. I play my little heart out and I'll keep doing that until my wee fingers drop off. (Much to the ladies' dismay). And paying my dues is payin' off...I released "To Her (The Bittersweet)" in 2006, and it's getting airplay in Australia, Belgium, and the UK, which is wonderful :) I am now working on my second full length album now, and though I’ve hit a few snags on production, I hope to have it finished soon. So exciting...:) You can hear my music on various internet radio stations, such as G.I.R.L Radio and the Lesbian Lounge (Hi Donna!), AIIR Radio, Rubyfruit Radio, Lesbian Fun and Acoustic Pie on Live 365, Martha's Vinyard acoustic cafe, Desert Highway Radio, and Indie Limelight Radio, to name a few. The indie movie that features my music, "The Myth of Color," has just been finished, and will be featured in LA this month 2007 Cinema City International Film Festival!!!! we'll see where that goes.
Thanks for visiting my humble music page. I know that there are a lot of musical fish in the internet sea, but I am one of the few with the big gay stamp of approval screaming out from my whole demeanor for the world to see. Keep checking back for dyke oriented tunes, thinly veiled slams on exes, snuggly slow-dance crooning, and all of the other lovely creations that burst forth from my bag o' tricks.
