for songwriting? the musical holy trinity of loretta lynn, dolly parton and hank williams. otherwise, johnny cash is my favorite man in (or out of) the world (well, he and hank hill, but hank doesn't sing). ralph stanley has my favorite voice of all time, any genre. i also love the carters, dwight yoakam, gretchen wilson, and lots and lots of other people......
these are the first recordings of any of these songs. kind of rough--first drafts--but nice, i think. SUMMER OF MY 14TH YEAR was recorded with two of my favorite people in the whole world; kate howser and jennifer daunt, of the super cool pdx country band, axton kincaid. kate did the main harmonies and jen played mandolin and did all that complicated recording stuff. kate also brought us really good beer while we were working on it all. NOVEMBER and MAYBE THAT SOMEBODY IS YOU were recorded with and by jeremy dickerson. he played all the instruments i didn't play. the fabulous kipp crawford remixed NOVEMBER for me. thank you so much to these friends for helping me record my songs! I wrote the songs, sang lead, and played acoustic guitar....
No I didn't hear about the naked people until today. I bet it was nice with the beautiful weather. I hope he caught up too. I'm a compassionate Portlander.
