JULIET’S BIO
Members of Juliet’s Ghost go first got together at a tribute to the late Jeff Buckley, who they all admire tremendously. Three of the members, Bas, Gerrie and Michele were part of this event that had its grand finale in Amsterdam’s ‘Temple Of Pop’ Paradiso, with great success.
In 2001 the four of them made their debut-EP. They joined two contests and made it to the finals both times. The first contest was in 2003. In the last contest, the prestigious Amsterdamse Popprijs in April 2004, they were voted Favorite Band by the public and runner-up by the jury. In 2004 the band released their second EP named Man Down.
JULIET’S INSPIRATION
Fans of Juliet’s Ghost, as well as journalists in reviews and juries in band competitions, praise the band for their authenticity and musical creativity. However, the bandmembers, as anyone, have music that inspires them. Artists like PJ Harvey, Nick Cave and Jeff Buckley come to mind. Other often named references are Portishead and Smashing Pumpkins.
