Up front you find the energetic, charismatic and motor-mouthed piano and organ demon Ulf Sandström singing and communicating non-stop, with a profound message. And again, maybe not.



Mighty Bo Gustafsson - ex pop-star in ska-reggae band Dag Vag honks a tenor madly, alternating with a jazzy alto and vocal input. Occasionally he performs the illegal male erotic dance that is part of the survival skills in the northern parts of scandinavia.



Kenneth Bjornlund is a fanatically allround drummer and percussionist who has played with Surjo over 15 years - forming a welded silicone rhythm section.



Surjo Benigh is without doubt one of Scandinavias finest bass players and a great producer.

They guarantee high profile energy and musicianship in any occasion.

Influences:

The musical influences range from early New Orleans R & B, Swamp pop, Jamaican ska hits from the sixties, through boogie woogie from the absolute turn of the previous century in the style Amos Milburn and Willie Dixon. Classic rock in the spirit of Fats Domino, New Orleans piano flavour like Professor Longhair and jazz in the spirit of Mose Alison or funky stuff in the spirit of the Neville Brothers, Toots and the Maytals or Little Feat.

Add to this a Jam band approach with a rich amount of improvisation at the spur of the moment. Most of the material is original. Rock/Soul/Swamp pop.

Sounds Like:

If you're into music from groups like Toots & The Maytals, Little Feat, Neville Brothers, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Amy Winehouse and Allen Toussaint, you'll enjoy Jump4joy. At times we sound like a New Orleans rhyhtm'n blues band, and in other ways like a sixties Blue Note group. There is the occasional blues, country and spiritual or piano boogie with rock'n roll flavour, but most of all - original funky, groovy, Jump4Joy!
