"Ted Leo meets Karate melodic punk-rock ... Jumping Ships? Time to get on board people!"
NME Magazine (29/04/09)
Jumping Ships are an Alt Rock Quartet based in Brighton who have been together for a year and a half. In their short time together they have toured the UK three times and have played shows for The Great Escape, BBC Introducing, Club NME, Leftfield Glastonbury and Rock Against Racism; supporting bands such as Biffy Clyro, Bombay Bicycle Club, Flood of Red, General Fiasco and The Most Serene Republic.
Festival highlights of this year for the band included White Air Festival and Southsea Festival.
Upon formation the band started writing, recording and self producing a two track single entitled ‘Liberty Row’. This single caught the attention of BBC Introducing Guru’s Tom Robinson and Steve Lamacq who both playlisted the track. The single also attracted interest from Brighton Electric Studios (Foals/Maccabees/Blood Red Shoes) who offered the band a chance to record a debut album. The album entitled ‘Orientation’ is in final mixing stages and is set to be released in early 2010.
In October the band released a limited edition single entitled ‘The Bad Outweighed The Good’ which they promoted with a month long UK tour. The single also secured them high profile endorsements with; Hi-Watt, Ernie Ball and Jim Dunlop.
Jumping Ships, who are the first unsigned band to headline Club NME have been feautured frequently within the NME magazine, including ‘Pick of the week’, ‘Featured Gigs’ and an interview in the unsigned section. Next year see’s the release of their debut album ‘Orientation’ and looks to be an exciting year for the band.
'The Bad Outweighed The Good' is out now on ITunes, Amazon, Napster and more
