Junior Eats Alone is a new band with a rich past. In the last couple of years, under the name ..Id.., they made a strong impression with several demos and performances. The band made it to the semi-final of the ..Grand Prize of the Netherlands.. (which is the single most important band competition in NL), got a lot of airtime on national radio, won several regional band competitions and performed as support act for (among others) Damien Rice and Steve Wynn in high profile concert halls like Paradiso, LVC and Paard.
By the press Junior Eats Alone has been compared to the Dave Matthews Band, Radiohead and Calexico. Reviews have always been very positive, with descriptions like: ..original guitar pop with strong melodies and a slight symphonic edge.. (OOR magazine) and ..beautiful, sincere songs with a rare originality. What quality!.. (Live XS).

In the new line-up with full size horn section and keyboard player, the band has worked hard to create a new, even richer sound. ..Call it melancholy guitar pop, jazzy camp fire songs or catching rock. I don..t care. Some people say musically everything has been done already. I think there..s still a lot to discover and that goes for us as well. In our music contrast is a constant factor.
Really, it has got it all; from big arrangements to very small songs. Perhaps ..introvert extravagance.. is a good description?.., says singer Ronnie Verton.
Since 2004 Junior Eats Alone wrote and recorded a suitcase full of songs in their own studio. Songs that stick out by their sincere lyrics, catching melodies and detailed arrangements. Ronnie:..I always try to write songs that are in no way about me. After two lines it always turns out to be auto-biographical. So, the songs are very personal...
Regarding the future the band is very outspoken: We just want to play as much as we can and make beautiful recordings. Ronnie: ..Junior Eats Alone is my oxygen and medicine. De engagement within the band is enormous and my band members are my best friends and in some way my biggest enemies as well. Did I mention contrasts already, haha...
