“Junkyard Scientists have unearthed the perfect floor-filling equation. Seriously one of the best bands I’ve had on the show.”- Linda Serck, BBC Berkshire
"Junkyard Scientists' gigs aren't about the stage, they're about the dancefloor!" - James Milloy, musflash TV
"Junkyard Scientists manage to add a whole new history and vitality to funk music, twisting it into a fresh new Hip Hop bitten beast. The tunes are all carefully manipulated, yet delivered with such verve and musical desire that heart and head can't help but agree. Junkyard Scientists - better than sex and nothing like Lenny Kravitz." - Luisa Garcia, Blah Blah Magazine
"Although heavily influenced by soul and funk pioneers, Junkyard Scientists are far from a retro-themed band 'recreating' sounds from their predecessors and are as much influenced by contemporary artists, which has a healthy effect on their music. The Junkyard journey will be an enjoyable one to watch grow through their future releases and already staggeringly creative live performances." - Liberation Frequency Magazine
Welcome to the new FUSION sound of the United Kingdom, where funk, soul, jazz, rock and pop merge to make an eclectic vibration that cannot be resisted. Junkyard Scientists have evolved into a fusion of sensations that drives audiences of all ages wild, enticing crowds in at every venue they perform at.
Formed in Reading and London in 2007 by a collective of musicians, producers and event organisers, the Junkyard sound is influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sly & The Family Stone, Michael Jackson and Jamiroquai.
The band started out playing house parties and illegal raves before running an independent live music residency at FairTrade venue 'The Global Cafe'. They went on to release their self-titled, 7-track debut EP, launching it at Zavvi Megastore in Reading with an in-store gig.
Since then Junkyard Scientists have gone on to support acts like Portico Quartet, Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly, James Taylor Quartet and Ash as well as headline venues such as The Camden Jazz Cafe, The Troubadour and Proud Galleries. In 2008 the group joined the Raison D'Etre collective - one of London's household names for young funk, soul & jazz talent. In the summer of 2009, Junkyard Scientists were invited by the Chai Wallah Tent to join them on a UK festival tour, which included Beach Break Live, Secret Garden Party, Green Man Festival in Wales & Electric Picnic in Ireland.
Airplay by Eddie Piller (Acid Jazz Records) on Q Radio, Craig Charles' Funk & Soul Show and BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson along with live performances on BBC Radio Berkshire has seen the popularity of the ‘Junkyard Scientists EP’ grow. Junkyard secured a publishing deal for their debut EP from Boosey & Hawkes and upon releasing it on iTunes it was featured in the iTunes' store 'What's Hot' section.
Junkyard Scientists would like to give special thanks to the following people for their past and continuing contributions to the band. We would not be here without you:

As you may or may not be aware SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk - Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae - Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
