"Thank heavens then for Juno Ashes who are the epitomy of professionalism. Their solid sound is intelligently informed by some sensational guitar work and some rather tasty synth and keyboards.

"Their stadium bound work outs are emotive and dramatic which suits them down to the ground and the rugged bass line pins the whole set down, whilst the vocals really do dominate a lower melodic range with a masterful and powerful performance. Ones to definitely see again.

"If you've seen Juno Ashes live, you'll know "Jennifer Sometimes". It's the one with the momentously towering chorus, usually accompanied by singer Andy Gardner raising a clenched fist whilst attempting some sort of balletic twisting manouevre.

"... his foundation-shaking vocals are not the only ingredient setting Juno Ashes apart from the 'are-you-still-here?' post-punk revival brigade; Rob Steadman's soulful background piano echoing Doves "Here It Comes" whilst the melody takes its time to build up to that peak.

"Meanwhile Right The Wrongs sees Andy and the band in more understated mould, slipping into view with some beautifully mournful guitars before sneaking up on you with a widescreen sort of anti-chorus washed in lush sweeping keyboards. This is probably what Editors think they sound like; they don’t even come close.

"... they demonstrate that indie type pop music can have maturity and intelligence; the songs blend prog rock synth sounds and interesting harmonies with catchy and accessible vocal hooks.

"... the music carries a bitter-sweet feeling similar to the Manics at their peak, and there is a definite sense of dynamics; something often lacking in today's indie groups.

"Juno Ashes craft their music well and, although the style may not be to everyone's taste, you get the impression that they're doing what the want, how they want to do it, with a self awareness and craftsmanship that only seasoned professionals have."

"The vocal is a barely contained emotional force in this song, with a heartfelt power that would impress a genuine opera singer; one that doesn't sell phones. A great track.

"Andy, Neil, Adam, Rob and Paul have crafted an utterly blinding record, full to bursting with majestic piano hooks, guitar licks dripping with purposeful delay, clever, grinding bass lines and drum beats filled with urgency.

"It's a wonderful mix, fronted by a vocal that screams conviction with every note.

"It's hard to sum up the band's sound, too. Think Morrissey finally waking up and getting to grips with a new decade, think Coldplay's majesty and think a vocal that could teach Editors' Tom Smith a thing or two about drama.

"Juno Ashes are armed with a hell of a sound, some rather excellent production and a host of frankly brilliant songs.

"With even initial forays into songwriting yielding absolutely huge results, we don't doubt that it won't be long before this band is everywhere.

"Congratulations, Juno Ashes, on being our favourite unsigned band of the year. We reckon they'll be massive before you know it!"

"This 5-piece band hailing from Manchester are a refreshing change to the indie rock scene invading the music world at the moment...

"...The Model" and "Wait By The Gate" are immensely good songs, with twists of pop, rock and classical...

"...Picture a field of sunflowers in a snowstorm and this is Juno Ashes, fabulous pop/rock with an alluring dark streak...

"It would be great to hear more of this band..."

REVERB magazine, Vol 2 issue 3, May/June 2007

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"... spacious, expansive and darkly heartfelt, most of the time they're not in-your-face immediate but in a way I like this about them.

"Too many bands go for the sharp shock and fall over trying, whereas with Juno Ashes you have to take a little step into their world to reap its rich rewards."

"Manchester produces its fair share of guitar icons: Marr, Squire, Noel Gallagher. But there are darker reference points for the aspiring pop stars to plug into…

"… there's also another influential player, the person who defined Puressence's sound on their first three albums...

"Neil McDonald has teamed up with a new outfit and it's a satisfying mix of progress and carefully wrought, stadium-sized slices of delight…

"This is deep, quite complicated work. Repeated listens are worthwhile just to pick out those finer touches and nuances on this fine debut."

"... the swing of Wait By The Gate is crammed with exciting and interesting arrangements whilst The Model imprints the inherent moodiness of the bands large scale ambitions, as it soundtracks either snow on a cold winters day or a sunrise in mid-summer."

www.manchestermusic.co.uk, 28/12/06

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

"... this is no inexperienced bunch of chancers; Neil McDonald spent a decade in Puressence. And as soon as he touches the strings the ethereal chiming of one of Manchester's greatest unsung guitar heroes is unmistakable."

"... they already have a powerful but chilling sound; downbeat Doves bred with stadium-strength soaring chord sequences and nod to the atmospheric end of prog."

"... it's clear this is a band with a lot of depth and potential."

"... singer Andrew Gardner is quite a revelation. Throwing Morrissey-esque shapes around the stage he has such a piercing look in his eyes, you really aren't sure if he wants to kill you or have sex with you.

"Juno Ashes make moody, ambitious indie and for a first gig we are more than a little impressed."
