Always striving for the perfect party, 2007 has seen Jus Phil hitting the big nights all over Europe. In Oct 2007 Punchfunk Records released VIP EP with its three strong tracks Back, VIP and What Do Ya. Marco V’s Reconstruction Edit of VIP is featured on his Combi: Nations 2 compilation and is also charted at number 2 on his Beatport page.
2008 has got off to a great start already with a monthly Monu Digital and Dirty Analogue event in Manchester starting in Feb with Fergie and with Anthony Collins pencilled in for March. Also in Feb Phil is in Spain at the No Dough studio working on new material for their Projekt 3 trio with Towie…definitely something to watch out for! Not wanting to stop there, a new Jus Phil EP will be coming out in the summer with some crazy remixes.
Phil will be relaunching his and Cesco’s Monu Mental Records label In May to Monu Digital exclusive to Beatport with releases from, Alive & R.A.W,
Projekt 3, Bigger Than Jesus & Camroc plus many more…
Music has always been a part of Jus Phil’s life. His uncle ran the door at the legendary Hacienda night club in Manchester. Another favourite night spot was Bugged Out held at Sankeys Soap every Friday. Both these nights gave him a direction for what he wanted out of life. A good party with good music.
Through the late 90’s Phil travelled all over the UK and along the way met Fergie at Phil’s own night, Friction in Sheffield. A lot of Phil’s inspiration came from Fergie as they were of a similar age, the more time they spent together the more he learnt. Finishing the weekends off at Trade @ Turnmills opened his eyes even more to what was possibly the perfect party. Now he settles for nothing less.
In 2000 Phil joined the Technics DJ Academy and soon after completing the course he was asked to become a tutor, teaching everything from DJ skills to music production. This became his life for 5 successful years at the Academy, teaching over 1000 students from all over the world.
Phil made the decision to the leave the Academy in 2005 to pursue his own label Monu-Mental Records along with Cesco (a past student at the Academy) as a means to releasing his own cutting edge productions and pushing other up and coming artists. Artists such as Kevin Gorman, Stian Klo, Picrudo have already had great success on the label. Phil’s releases ‘May B, Electric Bug, V.I.P and Summer Class’ have had huge support from Fergie, Mistrerss De Funk Eddie Halliwell & Trophy Twins Radio 1 Shows and from world wide artists like Laurent Garnier, Sharam Jey, Deep Groove, Audio Jack and many more, clearly demonstrating his professionalism as a label manager and producer.
In 2006 Jus Phil toured some of the best club nights in the UK. Appearances include Turnmills, Excentric, Sankeys, GodsKitchen, Ritmoloco as well as Ibiza and played alongside Sebastian Leger, Valentino Kanzyani, Jel Ford, Mauro Picotto, Micky Slim and Fergie. He was also featured in a ‘Best of British Futures’ show alongside James Talk, Dave Robertson and Kevin Gorman on Radio 1. He’s now looking forward to another successful year…

You may remember Max Cooper from his simply awesome ‘Custard Crush’ track last year. Now he delivers ‘FRANK’. He manages to cover a number of genres from house to techno to progressive, a combo that I’m sure will leave the many a listener drooling at the mouth. The large dark filtering bass rolls along to a un-miss able groove - 4/5
