Give me a good, heated debate with someone, and I'm a happy woman! LOL! I have a pretty strong opinion about almost everything,I think. Actually, the Lord and my family are my main interests. I have these amazing children who I can't get enough of! And since I love the Lord, naturally I love Bible study. I really enjoy deep conversations, political discussions (I'm a die-hard Republican), Broadway and musical theatre, movies, music, cooking, and playing games (cards, board games, etc.). Shopping is always a great thing to do, but honestly, I hate to shop... I just LOVE to buy! My other passions are SINGING (I always thought I would be on Broadway.. maybe there's still time?), playing the piano (I originially went to college to be a concert pianist, but changed my mind), teaching school (I love those teenagers), doing Sudoku and Logic puzzles, the color GREEN, and collecting turtles (not live ones!), cookbooks, etched depression glass, music boxes, submarine paraphernalia, & any electronic gadget I can get my hands on. Did I mention that I love surfing the internet for different sounds to put on the computer, and I think I have a recent Blinkie addiction (you'll see some in several scroll boxes below... and I'm adding more all the time). It's silly, but I just love 'em. Ohhhh... I forgot... I love jewelry, too! Diamonds are my birthstone, and that's just fine with me!
Music
Wow.. I just love music in general! I would say that my favorite types of music are Christian (praise and worship, contemporary, and Southern gospel), alternative, Pop/top 40 stuff, Broadway scores, some country (because my daughter Chelseah makes me listen), and classical (but mostly I like to play classical). *** There are so many musicians I like, it's hard to narrow it down. In the Christian music world, I love Hillsong music, 4 Him, Gaither Vocal Band, Michael English, and Praise & Worship music in general. As for other music, I like specific songs more than specific artists. However, I really like John Mellencamp, Bon Jovi, and Journey. There are too many songs I like to even begin to name!
Movies
Again, movies are a favorite pasttime for me. I LOVE indie films! I also really like psychological thrillers and dramas. Some of my favorite movies are "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Con Air", "Gone with the Wind", "Waitress", "Wedding Crashers", "Inside Irvin", "Pride and Prejudice", "Serendipity", "Old School", "Shakespeare in Love", "Father of the Bride", "School of Rock", "Face/Off", "Steel Magnolias", "Meet Joe Black", "The Notebook", "Meet the Parents", "How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days", "American History X", "The Replacements", "The Polar Express", "An Officer and a Gentleman", "Primal Fear", "Silence of the Lambs", and "You've Got Mail". In addition, you can count on me watching any submarine movie that comes out, those creepy Asian horror flicks, independent films, and whatever movies I can find featuring Edward Norton, George Clooney, Richard Gere, John Cusak, Tom Hanks, or Robert Downey. Given the chance, I could tell you about 100 more movies that are my "favorites", so don't quote me on only those few. I just love the fact that movies "take me away" for a couple of hours!
Television
I love TV... what can I say? I love the background noise, I suppose. LOL! I really think I have too many favorite shows to mention, but my "most favorites" include any good sermons I can find, Lost, Big Love, Law & Order (any of them will do!), American Idol, TMZ, anything on Investigation Discovery, any Washington Redskins football game, Days of Our Lives, Deadliest Catch, all of those great medical shows on Discovery Health, some of the Fox News Channel's topic shows, and reruns of Will & Grace, The Practice, 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, Judging Amy, Lois & Clark, I Love Lucy, Leave It to Beaver, and Father Knows Best (ok... dorky, but I love 'em!).
Books
I never seem to have much time for reading, and when I do, I fall asleep! LOL... The Bible is my favorite book, of course, but I'd hope it is everyone's. Other favorite books are mainly self-help books, cookbooks, and Southern humor books. I am currently re-reading a great book called "The Sound of Summer Voices" by Helen Tucker, as well as a book called "Jabez", which is the story form of The Prayer of Jabez. I also love "To Kill a Mockingbird", and you can never go too wrong with a good biography of someone interesting.
Heroes
My heroes... what a hard question. I would say without hesitation that my greatest hero is Jesus. He is my everything. My mother is also my hero... she's a wonderful woman. My grandfather was my hero as well. He was unforgettable and the epitome of a Southern gentleman. If the Atticus Finch character in "To Kill A Mockingbird" were a real man, he'd be my hero! If the men today were like him... *sigh*... In general, I think my heroes are people who are not afraid to rock the boat to make a difference for the better in life. I'm also so proud of all our military members, ESPECIALLY MY HUSBAND, who serve our country so faithfully every day to ensure our freedom.

Let's see... obviously I'm Jennifer, and I'm 44 years old. My maiden name is Jones, for all of you who "knew me when". I consider myself a high maintenance Southern woman, born and raised in eastern coastal Virginia (a little town called Colonial Beach on the Potomac River), and I lived there my entire life, until June 2003! I look forward to going "home" again.
** I am married to Dave, 42, who is a newly retired Navy Submarine chief (he served for 24 years). I'd call him my best friend (well, most of the time!). We have 5 fantastic children... 3 girls: Kaylah, 19; Chelseah, 18; and Savannah, 11; and 2 boys: DJ, 18; and Sailor, 10.
** I am a Christian, and I love the Lord with all my heart. He is so faithful, and He never lets me down. He won't let you down, either! Trust me... put all your faith in Him, give Him your life, and you'll find out how wonderful He is! Give Him a try!
** By profession, I'm a high school teacher, but at the moment, I'm a stay at home wife and mother. I am also a singer and pianist, and I always thought I would be on Broadway or singing/performing in some capacity. Maybe it's not too late! I'm also considering attempting a catering business in the near future.
** If you know me at all, you know that I have an opinion about EVERYTHING! I'm a die-hard, right-wing Republican. I'm pro-life (anti-abortion), I'm anti-alcohol, and I DON'T support gay marriage or that lifestyle (but... even though I don't support everyone's way of life I believe we should love the sinner, hate the sin -- you know?). I'm very much a people person, regardless, and I generally love people, even if I don't agree with them! I am perfectly happy being a woman without trying to be "equal" to a man. Ugh! We're NOT equal. I personally LOVE the differences. Men are stronger, women are smarter... everyone knows that! ha ha ha ha!! (Ok... I had to throw that in there!) I won't apologize for being a Southerner or being proud of my Southern heritage. I'd say I'm a "let's get it done" sort of girl. I cannot stand trashiness, tackiness, ignorance, or just a basic low-living mentality... I'm not generally a "make do" or status quo person. However, I hate to have any discontent with another person, and I want to make it right and talk it out ASAP, if possible... and at least come to some sort of understanding between us. I'm a born-again, Spirit-filled Christian, and I will NEVER apologize for that, either! I thank God for His mercy and grace and strength every day. I wear who I am proudly, but I'm always trying to improve and change those things about me that need work. If you ever want to know where I stand on anything... just ask!
** Currently, I live in southeast Georgia, as that's where my husband's last submarine was based. We've been here for almost 6 years now. For his last tour, he was unexpectedly transferred to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in late 2005, but we weren't able to find an adequately-sized house there that would accommodate our large family or our tastes. We DID all go to Hawaii for his retirement from the Navy in June 2008, though, and it was amazingly beautiful! However, no matter where I might go, don't worry! You can take the girl out of the South, but you can never take the South out of the girl!
Who I'd like to meet:
I'd love to meet Jesus, face to face... but I already KNOW HIM, if you know what I mean. I just can't wait to see Him with my own eyes, though! I'd also like to meet President Bush, Billy Graham, and maybe Marilyn Monroe... to find out what REALLY happened to her!
