Just CARE's Blurbs |
About me:
We are a newly established organization within the Arizona rave scene.
In light of the current state of our scene, heavily influenced by hard drugs and greedy promoters willing to put minors in harms way, we aim to launch an effort to clean up our scene and establish a new code of conduct to bring back the positive and activist atmosphere that once permeated rave culture.
Although PLUR has become a cliche and meaningless term in our culture, it once stood for something that appealed to our better-selves, the good-nature of the human spirit, and made our events an enjoyable and safe place to have fun. Over the years, the open-mindedness of our culture was somehow perverted and twisted into a permissiveness that has now reached a critical mass. Heavy drug use, violence, and other illicit behavior has become commonplace where in the past it would have been scandal.
Our mission is to "positively promote responsibility and respect."
We neither condemn nor condone the use of drugs; we believe education is key. IF you are going to use drugs, we implore you to know exactly what you are doing to your mind and body. We feel that you can have just as much fun at a rave without doing drugs and if that is your only reason for going, then you are going for the wrong reasons.
Raving is about being positive, caring, and loving toward your fellow ravers. We share everything--the world we live in and the music we love.
It used to be common for people you didn't know to walk up to you and give you a hug, a toy, or a piece of candy and welcome you to the event. It was like living within the book, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum. A utopian ideal seldom seen in communities where everyone got along.
We seek to re-establish that ideal and make raves a safe and fun place to be again in Arizona--but we need YOUR help. YOU are the missing link.
