i was raised and grew up in the mountains of NC near a town called Asheville. i began writing music experimentally at the age of 14 -- mostly just horrific sounding experiments on my computer, but i was immediately fascinated with the creation process... the ability to layer sounds on top of one another. it was a beautiful and powerful mechanism.
i've dabbled in various genres of music, from film score (movie and video game), to a more, simple singer/songwriter style of music that included solo piano and vocals, to a more electronic/experimental blend. it is only now that i have begun to pull these all together in to one cohesive effort.
my music is more interested in texture and layer than melody and lyrical content. there are vocals, but the importance is moreso on the way the lyrics are placed on top of one another and transferred in to the piece as a whole. there is piano, but it is often distorted and modified to the point of where it sounds completely different from what you might associate as a typical piano. there are experimental recorded ambient soundscapes that i've gathered over time, random audio clips, bits from films, on the street, in the subway, that i'm constantly gathering and looking for interesting ways to work it in to the music.
i like for my music to bleed in to one another... in my sets, i don't like there to be any sort of pause or "end" to the music, so i create a way of transitioning from one piece to the next... the pieces all bleed in to one and, i hope, become individual components of a larger work.
