As part of the well-respected 'THE144 ELITE' and a member of Houston's S.P.C (South Park Coalition), Justice Allah is a talented Houston artist who has been making waves in underground circles. Rago thought it was only right to get all the latest from a rapper who has a lot to offer. If you hate bubblegum rap music then this could be the artist to actually give you some food for the brain. Tricksta hooked up with him to find out more....

Where exactly are you from and what’s the Hip-Hop scene/industry like there? I’m from Houston, Texas; Born in 5th Ward, Raised in Trinity Gardens, schooled in South Park, moved to and from the Southwest and now living in Third Ward. Here in H-Town there are at least 100 rappers in every hood and there are at least 100 hoods. Oversaturation results in duplication in most situations so I try not to tune in to too many radio stations. The club scene basically plays what the radio plays but the uncensored versions. Most of the artists coming up in Houston are nice. Their diversity goes from one end of the spectrum to the other as far as content is concerned. Of course we have the world’s greatest rapper here, K-RINO. The studios are hot - meaning cool. You can record on most sides of town and get a good sound. Mess with the right people, folks like Dope at Akasha, Klondike Kat at the House of Wax or K-Water at the Water House, and you’ll get the best sound. The Independent Labels are like rappers – at least 1000 or more. In SPC we create our own scene. We function as our own mini-industry. We coordinate our shows, events, promotional projects, releases, etc. It’s a blessing to have fam like that.

How long have you been rapping and what or who influenced you to pick up the microphone and start writing? I’ve been rapping since I was twelve. I was influenced by most of the great ones; KRS, Run-DMC, Big Daddy Kane, Chuck D, Melle-Mel, Rakim, Slick Rick, Ice T, NWA, Face. Later on listening to people like The Wu, K-Rino, Klondike KAT, OutKast, and Nas kept me on a good writing range.

What have you released so far and what has the response been like? I released The Making of D.N.J.C. in 05, with a limited pressing. It was well received. People enjoyed the Single, “Love”. It was an autobiographical album. Then in 07 we released The 144 ELiTE’s “AgreeAbles +vs- DisAgreeAbles”. It was very well received and we got a lot of love from supporters. I’m set to release “SuPreMe MaTheMaTiCs” any minute now. People that KNOW, I mean that really know, know type know - all give their upmost approval on this project. It’s so beyond anything that you thought a rap album would be. It’s SuPreMe. I also got another heat-packed disk coming your way before the end of the year called “JusTice Served”, so remember those titles and get ‘em as soon as you can.

What producers do you work with? Dope E – DJ KONG – Big Deuce – FocuseDaily – NIBU – D.N.J.C. – (My European Bangers) ImmorTal Beats – and Keza Sosa.

What artists have you collaborated with and what’s the most memorable collaboration that you have recorded?

I’ve had the pleasure of recording with the legendary K-Rino, Dope E, Klondike Kat, Blank, MJ, Mayadia, Soul Provider, DirtChild, Shanno, Cash, LATE, Kuwait, Ranus, Jones, Deuce, and all of the SPC active roster to name a few of my real people. One the most memorable collabs was recording The Multiple Choice Murder track on K-Rino’s Book Number 7 album. Those lyrics on that joint are some of the coldest on record, by some of the dopest emcees in Houston.

What’s your label situation? Who you signed to and do they have distribution?

I’m on the ELiTE WORLD label and we work in close configuration with Black Book International, so I’m totally well. I have the freedom of an independent and the security of having all the business being taken care of by the great minds at ELiTE WORLD. Currently one of those particulars is finding a lucrative distribution deal that will put these projects into more peoples ears. You got a deal for us?

What’s been the most memorable gig and why?

Every year I get amazed at The SPC weekend. It’s like 15 of the top artists in The South Park Coalition doing their thing onstage to the fullest. It’s truly a sight to see if you wanna experience what real hip-hop looks, sounds, smells and acts like. We had a SPC show out in Austin, Texas recently with a live band that was super-electric. It feels good when everybody in the place wants to hear and see you. That night all the elements were in the right combination and it ended with a satisfied crowd, a satisfied club owner, and the SPC got paid; what’s better than that? Oh yeah the afterparty... can’t talk ‘bout that though.

Any major plans for 2009? Anything big in the pipeline?

In 2009 I’ll release two albums, SuPreMe MaTheMaTiCs and JusTice Served. There’s a lot of gigs lined up with the band I’m in, The Texas Dub Crusaders. There are plans to some international travel with SPC. There are a few supplementary recording projects taking place in addition to all of the above, so the plan is to stay busy. The biggest plan is to increase the amount of features, major shows and album sales. If you know serious people that are ready to handle business, steer them in this direction.

Have you done any music videos to promote your latest release? If so what TV Stations have played it and do you have videos on You Tube?

I’ve been in The 7’s Up Video with The 144 ELiTE and also The Video “BORN” from the SuPreMe MaTheMaTiCs lp. They played them on HOT (Houston’s Own Talent)TV which airs locally on channel 55 (sorry for not having the station call letters). All The video materials are on you-tube.
