Norrene Parker shared the residence with her former boy-friend, Chris Pratt. Norrene and her children were not permitted in this room and it was known as Chris' "Game Room." There were some mounted animals on the walls, but most were obtained at flea markets and not actually hunted by Mr. Pratt. In one of the drawers were large numers of keys and pieces of jewelery. One key was identified as a key to the home of Mary's brother, Mike. He had not lived at this home for several years. Believing that much of the jewelery was Mary's, Norrene Parker permitted it to be examined by the family. All the pieces were, in fact, articles owned and usually worn by Mary. Included was her engagement ring. (less) Update- June 7, 2007- The Marshall family recently received some great news that will again enable us to continue public awareness efforts in our community for Mary’s case. A local couple came forward with an offer to conduct a motorcycle “Ride for Mary” this summer. Last year they held a similar event on behalf of the Special Olympics, however this event will be dedicated to Mary Denise Lands. So many people across America have heard about the family’s anguish in Mary’s disappearance and how this tragedy was compounded by the ineptness of a local police department. Our resolution is that Mary will be brought home in 2007. Last year 150 bikers participated from a starting point at Godfather’s Pizza/Ball Joint Sports Bar & Grill and toured throughout Calhoun County. We hope to double the number of bikers this year with a similar itinerary. The route and details for the Saturday, August 18, 2007 event will soon be announced. We welcome your support that day and hope you will join us. The event will be open to the public and proceeds will be donated to the Mary Lands Trust Fund at Monarch Bank in Marshall. Ride for Mary Flyer We believe that this event will help generate more tips and public interest in the investigation and will result in the person/s responsible for Mary’s disappearance and murder being held accountable in a court of law. Their letter was also published in the Battle Creek Enquirer on November 19, 2006. A Mother & Father Ask, "WHY?" March 2004 was supposed to be a wonderful time for our family. We would soon be great-grandparents, and our daughter Mary would be a grandmother. We had just moved to California but little did we know that March 2004 would turn into a nightmare from which we would never recover. A phone call on Sunday, March 16, 2004 informed us our daughter Mary was missing. Something was terribly wrong and we called the Marshall Police to investigate. After several hours they said Mary and her boyfriend had an argument on Friday, March 12 at about 10:00 P.M. He claimed after the argument she walked away from their apartment in 13-degree weather wearing only lightweight clothing and her favorite brown leather jacket and a purse- no keys, no cell phone and no car. Our move West left Mary with no one in Michigan to advocate on her behalf and we needed to help find her. We packed up again and drove 3,000 miles back to Marshall to a horror that ensues to this day. A week after Mary disappeared; the Marshall Police dismissed the FBI and a Task Force. It's been a very long 32 months since our Mary disappeared. 32 months our hearts have ached, 32 months we have cried ourselves to sleep, 32 months of searching and waiting for information. Imagine the anxiety and pain you feel when another body is found? Praying it?s our beloved Mary, so we can finally put her to rest; but praying it?s not her, because it?s the final end. 32 months she hasn?t seen or talked to her son, daughter, sisters or brother, 32 months of never knowing her grandson. 32 months without our Mary. We are so lonely for her and our fight to find Justice for Mary. It has been very frustrating. She would never walk away. It wasn?t her nature. She was excited about being a grandmother and planning her vacation to California. We later learned that during the 3-year relationship with her boyfriend she was a severely battered woman, both physically and mentally. She received broken fingers, broken toes, a dislocated shoulder, and many many bruises from being battered. WHY? Please help us find Mary Denise Marshall-Lands. From Her Beloved Family ?     A 2007 Father's Day Plea to Bring Home his Daughter June 17, 2007- Another Father’s Day has come and gone with no sign of our beloved daughter. Another year of heartache, another year of crying ourselves to sleep. Over 3 years now, and 39 long, lonely months since Mary disappeared without her smile to brighten our days and her laughter to warm our hearts. Have you ever had a child disappear without a trace? I can tell you it is the most gut-wrenching sinking feeling you could ever imagine. Wondering what happened to her or what nightmare she endured on that fateful night 39 months ago? We learned too late that Mary was a severe victim of domestic violence. If only we’d known, we could have whisked her away to safety and protected her from an ultimate death on that fateful night. Many of you are aware how crucial an initial investigation is into finding a missing person. A strong multi-jurisdictional task force effort must commence immediately. That point was proven last week in the case of the woman missing from the parking lot of a store in Kansas. Even though Mary’s investigation was not handled properly, we still seek your help in finding my daughter by providing information to fill in the pieces of this tragic puzzle. We plead to you to help us. We know the only way to solve this mystery, bring justice for Mary and put the murderers away forever is for good citizens like you to provide us the information to bring her home. Without her body, we can’t lay her to rest and have a proper burial. We plead for your help in finding Mary. We want to say thank you to our investigator, Jim Carlin of Justinian Investigative Services who has tirelessly donated his time and resources. Ball Joint - Godfather’s Pizza, Atlas Sales and other businesses in Battle Creek are helping the family as well as hundreds of other friends and supporters. On Saturday, August 18, 2007 the community will see 300 motorcycles roaring through Battle Creek, Burlington and Marshall and those riders and the public will be demanding an answer to the question, Where is Mary? 2007 will be the year that Mary is brought home and person/s responsible for her disappearance and murder will be held accountable in a court of law. Who I'd like to meet:

Approximately 3 years ago Jim Carlin decided to provide some assistance to the family of Clifford & Anita Marshall concerning the mysterious disappearance of their daughter, Mary. The City of Marshall, Police Department made many mistakes and mishandled the investigations however the time for criticism and acrimony on both sides should come to an end. We wish to go forward into the New Year of 2007 with the objective of a successful criminal prosecution of the person/s responsible for the disappearance and murder of Mary Denise Lands. The Michigan State Police is focusing on this goal and we believe the case will soon be solved. There is not much that one person can do, however to date I've donated over 6,600 hours of time and numerous resources to bring hope to the family, and my agency is providing investigative services pro-bono to the Marshall family. Many other friends and neighbors from throughout Marshall, Battle Creek and even other parts of the country have joined us in Mary's search. They have also donated their time and services in the search for Mary Lands. Her family deeply appreciates all this help and they know that through everyone's efforts they will soon have the answers they are seeking. This current site will be fully related only to the circumstances and investigation of Mary Denise Lands who disappeared from her residence in Marshall, Michigan on March 12, 2004. Jim Carlin Justinian Investigative Services 344 Clayton Avenue Battle Creek, Michigan U.S.A. 49017-5218 Tx: 269.441.7068 On August 15, 2007 the new occupants of the former Parker/Pratt residence at 9018 15 1/2 Mile Road, Fredonia Township, Marshall, Michigan contacted me that suspicious items were found hidden in their Michigan dirt basement behind a water heater. It did not belong to the new residents and Mr. Pratt's former girl friend could not identify the items, and they clearly were not her size. They were a woman's pajama bottoms, top, and a bra. Some of the items appeared to have blood-stains. There also was a face cloth. From the condition of the materials it was estimated that they had not been in the dirt and rocks very long. The items recovered were hidden behind the water heater and under some rocks and partially buried in the dirt. The only reason they were discovered was because the person occupying the home was doing repairs on the water-heater and the clothing was found by accident. They contacted me about the find and the articles were retrieved and then immediately provided to Sgt. Scott McDonald at the Marshall Police Department. (less)
