You know when you hear a song and it grabs you in the first 10 seconds? You hold your breath without realizing it to make sure you don't miss a note? You get the flutter in your stomach and it's almost as if time seems to stop for a second? And, if you're like me, you get half way through the song and wish you wrote it?
Well, that's exactly what I have set out to do. I want to be that guy, that writes that song, that you wish you wrote.
I have always loved music. My parents gave me a great musical education even before I was born. From the time I had ears I was hearing The Moody Blues, Springsteen, Neil Young, Zeppelin, Bowie, Floyd, The Eagles, AC/DC, and of course The Beatles, through the placenta wall! (ew!)
When I was 14, all I wanted to be was a rock star (though back then I wanted to be Vince Neil!)
In highschool, my time and interests were split between sports, girls and guitar lessons (no particular order!)
I guess I let fear and a lack of self confidence deter my desire to pursue a career in music, 'cause after highschool, I just wanted to make money - and we all know that music is only profitable long after you pay your dues.
So, I went into advertising and made a pretty decent living at it. After 3 yrs and 2 advertising firms later, I was unhappy and didn’t know why. So, during a 6 month hiatus from work altogether, I realized that I was unhappy because I wasn't doing what I loved. I also learned how to live with no moula! What a revelation!! Now, nothing would stand in my way of being a rock star - well, except the fact that I had never had a paying gig! So, that's how I started. A friend got me a gig playing covers at a local restaurant for $150 bucks a night a couple times a month and I was on my way.
It was about 2 years after that that I wrote my first song, Yesterday Girl. It has yet to be professionally produced as I have yet to fall in love with it, but it looks good for album 2!
3 years and thousands of dollars later, I have released my debut CD, King of Cups to rave reviews. I hope it can give you stomach flutters or touch on something that you can relate to. Click on the BUY NOW button below to get it at a limited time special price of $5!!
