From a fan..."The Band You Probably Don't Know About But Should"...
"Justin Brogdon Band – Let me start out by saying; I love this band, I love their sound and their energy. The way they engage the audience and draw them is something very special. If you have not taken the opportunity to see them play you are missing out on some of the best local live music available.
Why I love this band;
The type of music this band plays is genuine; every song on the first album is personal. Not just to Justin Brogdon or the band, but to every person who has ever been in a similar place in their life. The lyrics speak of truth, love, heartache and good times with good friends. We have all been where these songs take us at some point in our lives. These songs tell stories that are easy to embrace and fall in to. There are times when listening to this album that I have wondered how he is able to be so dead on. How he can tell his own story and still manage to hit a spot in the heart that feels as if he is telling your personal truth. It is truly a gift that I am glad he has chosen to share with us.
I want to mention what a talented group of musicians these guys are. They are some of the best musicians I have seen in the south. Carlton Owens (John Mayer, Stewart & Windield), Stephen Spivey (formerly Tishamingo), Benji Shanks (Capt. Soularcat, Last Waltz Ensemble), Andrew Hanmer (Charlie Mars), Jess Franklin (Tishamingo), Tony "G" Giordano (Full Black Out, Ancient Harmony, Big City Sunrise), They have performed with just about everyone on the southeast music scene, just a few more reason to check them out.
Like I said at the beginning "You probably don't know about this band, but you should" Go out and see these guys if they are near you. You will not be disappointed, that is my guarantee. You will feel the need to share this band with all your friends, like I have.
(I stumbled across this band through Benji Shanks, (Lead Guitar for Capt. Soularcat and Last Waltz Ensemble) In my circle of friends we have a motto, It goes something along the lines of " Where Benji plays, we will follow". Benji played on the self titled debut Justin Brogdon album and sits in with the band from time to time. Special Thanks to Benji for introducing me to these guys. )"
