Influences
My family
Music: Rush, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Evergrey, Ayreon (I almost feel shame for not knowing more about "Mr. L" until now), Opeth (truly amazing), Symphony X, Mozart, The Beatles, Fates Warning, Fish, Marillion, Queensryche, King Crimson, Soundgarden, Faith No More, C.O.C., Steve Wilson, The Final Sleep, Of Old, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, and a bunch more.
I am currently exploring metal from the icy regions of Europe. I kind of stopped listening to a newer music during the 90s when "real" vocals took a back seat to grunting and growling and snarling. While all of that sounds like fun after a gig I always felt that the style wasn't for me. I have recently found some newer bands that I really like and I've also "rediscovered" some older bands.
Culture:Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-wan Kenobi, Captain James T. Kirk, Spock, terrorists, scumbag politicians, liars, deceivers, the weak, the strong, the right, the left, the right, the wrong, the news, history, the future, war, peace, love, hate, upstate New Yawk, Trojan pride, Steve Austin (the $6million one), Batman, Superman, Satan, Jesus, the Internet, computers, Bill Gates, some other random shit and more.
I would say that right now I am most influenced by the world around me and the way I see people being treated and treating each other. Our world is hurting. People are fearful and from that we find that people become hateful and spiteful. I'm not one to say let's all have a big fucking group hug and we'll all be good. Never. I am however, one to notice that a little kindness perpetrated by one human being against another goes a long way in introducing the kind of feelings and attitudes that I think most of us are at the very least accepting of.
I originally set up this space to showcase some of my own stuff. It is now going to be a place where anything that I have worked on will be fair game for the menu. As you can hear at the moment there are songs from me, stuff from Of Old (which included Jason Bittner of Shadows Fall as well as most of The Final Sleep) and The Final Sleep.
The Of Old material is from the demo we recorded in 2000 at Studio 4 in Schenectady, NY (I think that's what it was called). It's a pretty cool story actually. We were asked to come in and record a couple of songs for a CD the studio was releasing as a promotional item to showcase their produciton abilities. Long story short the band laid down the instrumental tracks for the two songs (Killing Time and Drowning in DejaVu I think) so quickly that the engineer said if we had 2 or 3 more songs we could do them as well. So with 14 hours of work (maybe 2 for vocals... I dunno) we wound up with a 5 song demo CD for free.
The Final Sleep material comes from 'He walks his final walk... he sleeps his final sleep' which was recorded in Fall 2006. Jason Bordeaux helped us with engineering skills as well as production on this one. I believe most of the vocals for this were done in an evening. They are currently looking for a singer so if you have pipes give 'em a shout here. Yeah we're still friends. We just wanted to move in different directions so we're doing that and I wish them all the best.
I have recordings from older bands that I may post as well but we shall see.
At the time I'm working on dusting off parts of my voice that I haven't used in a while. For the last few years I've been playing one style of music and as a result of that I'm noticing that the styles I've used vocally have been much narrower than what I used to utilize. I've always had a very good range as well as a few different voices. It's time to bring them all back!
hi! iam wolfgang the guitarist of dreamscape. we should learn to be the best persons we can be and our world will change. i try. but it's not as easy as playing guitar in a high class band...
H. Jackson Brown: Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination.
