Justin's Interests
|
| General | Music, movies, reading, writing, or any combination of those. | | Music | I love progressive metal, power metal, death metal, hair metal, traditional metal, AOR/melodic rock, classic rock, and even the occasional black metal or doom metal band. I have zero musical ability (which means I won't be wasting your time plugging my own band), but I love to listen to music, talk about music, write about music, and discover new artists.
Some of my favorite artists are Amorphis, Angra, Asia, Avail, Black Sabbath (all eras), Blind Guardian, the Corrs, the Cult, DC Cooper, Dark Tranquillity, Dio, Dream Theater, Evergrey, Fair Warning, Gotthard, Green Day, Iron Maiden, Jorn, Journey, Judas Priest, Kansas, Magnum, Nightingale, Opeth, Paradise Lost, Pink Cream 69, Rush, Savatage, Social Distortion, Ten, Therion, Uriah Heep, Vanishing Point, Viper, Widow, Wolf, Y&T and about a million others. | | Movies | The original, REAL, Star Wars Trilogy, Pulp Fiction, the Godfather I-II, Clerks, Dogma, Usual Suspects, From Dusk Till Dawn, the Indiana Jones trilogy, the Crow, the Breakfast Club, the Goonies, the Harry Potter series, the Incredibles, the Nightmare Before Christmas, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, JFK, and the X-Men trilogy. | | Television | I worship the Simpsons. The only other current shows I follow are the Daily Show and Scrubs. Other than that, my TV is glued to VH1 Classics.
Classic shows I miss are Homicide, Batman: the Animated Series, the Tick (animated), and of course Sanford and Son.
| | Books | My favorites include the Grant Morrison New X-Men run, the Ultimates, the Warren Ellis Stormwatch/Planetary/Authority issues, the Brian Michael Bendis Daredevil run, Poison Elves (RIP Drew Hayes), and of course the classics like Watchmen, Kingdom Come, Dark Knight, Marvels, the old Uncanny X-Men issues, and whatever Jack Kirby touched.
In fiction, my favorite authors are Stephen King, George R.R. Martin's, David Gemmell (RIP), Guy Gavriel Kay, R.A. Salvatore, and I suppose Robert Jordan still qualifies, though he is sorely testing my patience these days.
To my surprise, I am absolutely loving the Harry Potter novels.
| | Heroes | Stan Lee, Ronnie James Dio, Jon Stewart, and my son. |

Justin's Blurbs |
About me:
There are essentially three aspects of my life, all of which intersect from time to time.
Personal - I LOVE METAL! I have an insatiable appetite, not for destruction, but for all kinds of heavy metal. I'm also a comic book fan and a political junkie.
Family - I've been married for just over 5 years and have an 18-month old son. I have 2 brothers, a sister, and my parents are still married.
Professional - I'm a Sr. Compensation Analyst for a large government contracting company. I've been in the human resources field for over 8 years, and am a Certified Compensation Professional.

Who I'd like to meet:
I'd love to meet the Daily Show's Jon Stewart because he just seems like the kind of guy you'd want to have a beer with and laugh over the day's major events.
I've been fortunate enough to meet some of my musical heroes, but I'd still love to meet Dream Theater's James LaBrie and the immortal Ronnie James Dio.
I'd also like to meet Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson, because his columns have a tendency to say the things I am thinking.
