Tommi Sirkia aka Dj Justin Space
Born in 16.10.1977
Justin Space is the Dj name of producer Tommi Sirkia. As an active producer of electronic music for the past 15 years, Tommi Sirki.. has released 4 albums of trance in projects such as Haltya, Highpersonic Whomen & solo as PeLinPaLa and a good number of other published works.
His interest for music and various types of musical instruments inspired him to study music and music production in the Conservatoire of Pop & Jazz music of Helsinki, Finland. Born to a musician family, Tommi Sirki.. grew up with music travelling the world with his father who is a classical opera singer. His Family also settled down for 7 years in Germany during Tommi..s childhood, because of his father's residency at a opera house in Dortmund. This is where Tommi first got involved with electronic music as it was getting very popular in Germanny at that time due to acid house and techno.
As a multi-instrumentalist Tommi masters several instruments, such as: piano, drums, guitar, bass, vibraphone to name a few. Playing and producing various musical genres from jazz to rock, experimenting in the electronic fields of music has expanded his knowledge for music which is to be heard in his projects.
Justin Space was named to be one of the producers in the project Highpersonic Whomen, who released a 12" Clone Collective in 2002 following the album Alternative Energysource released in 2002 for Thirteen productions. The name Justin Space settled in after the release of the debut album. Before that Tommi had been using many other artist names.
Justin Space and Highpersonic Whomen have released their works on various compilations from international trance labels including Twisted Records, Exogenic Music Group, Novatekk, Com.pact records, MPDQX label group, Digital Structures, U.S.T.A & Millenium among others.
The album Alternative Energysource was claimed by some critics to be the psy-trance album of the year 2002. The term psygressive was labeled with the band because of it's progressive characteristics and the preserved psychedelic touch to their musical profile.
To this day Justin Space has performed in various shows of Highpersonic Whomen and Haltya around the world. Although Tommi had been Dj:ing in parties since the year -94 he never really considered himself a dj until some party promoters wanted to hear his talents on the decks with such enthusiasm that he decided to take up the challenge for real.
The Musical style of Dj Justin Space has varied a lot during the years from house to detroit, trance to electro and chill out. What Tommi defines to be a peak moment in his dj carer was the production work in Highpersonic Whomen, because the release of the album allowed Tommi to play abroad and feel the dancefloor vibes in different countries. After this his musical style of Dj:ing for the dancefloors totally changed and is nowadays in the style of progressive, techno, electro, breaks including a minor pinch of progressive trance . Off the dancefloor you can find him playing breaks and funky electro up to chill out in some bars, always depending on the mood of the night. However first and foremost Tommi is a true music freak and therefore respects all kinds of musical styles in all genres.
Currently Tommi and Markku Louhio a.k.a. Kiwa also launched a new project called The Headphonics which combines techy breaks, drum'n'bass and housey elements.
Justin Space is a recident dj for Kuuloke Club who host regular nights at helsinki's rose garden.
