Sounds Like
Sometimes catchy, sometimes somber indie pop somewhere between Nick Drake, Pavement, and The Lemonheads.
My dad was a music teacher. One day when I was 7 he brought home this box of weird percussion instruments that I had never seen before, much less played. There were lots of blue crude wooden blocks with sandpaper on the surface and when you rubbed them together it sounded a little like walking through leaves. I also remember the majority of instruments in that box was some variation on a stick. Sticks with bells on the top. Sticks with slats and dents that, oddly enough, sounded cool when you banged them together. Metal sticks bent into a thin .."U.." with a wooden ball on the bottom and a wooden horn-bell looking thing on the top. Smack the wooden ball against your palm and the air vibrated. I fell in love and I wish I knew where the hell that box was. But you can't just depend on a box full of sticks and blocks to make you a musician.
Reviews:
"Very rarely can I say that every singer/songwriter out there can be palatable and even enjoyable without a band behind him to fill in holes, but Justin is one of those guys who, stand-alone, will sweep you off your feet with adorability, sincerity, and talent. And, he has a rockin’ beard."
