Since the release of their debut album, The Man Without a Bag, in late 2007, relentless gigging has earned this folk-country extravaganza a reputation for fine songwriting and explosive live shows, particularly in their hometown of Fremantle. With recent tours around the country, nation-wide airplay and a WAM Song of the Year nomination word is beginning to spread. Recording has begun on their second full-length album due for release in mid 2009. With regional tours booked and national tours planned, this next 12 months promises big things for The Justin Walshe Folk Machine.
Combining flamboyant storytelling, dramatic harmonies and classic showmanship, The Justin Walshe Folk Machine take you on a foot-stomping journey from the quiet introspection of folk to the wilds of gospel-infused country rock with feet firmly rooted in Australian soil.
The Man Without a Bag is an independent release available at gigs and these fine outlets:
I am back in Melbourne on Wednesday night for a very special
performance with the immortal Victoria Williams. We are playing The
Empress Hotel in Fitzroy. It starts at 8:00pm. So come on down and
spend an evening with us before Victoria bids Australia a reluctant
fare-the-well and heads back home to the beautiful expanse of the
Californian desert …
Hey Justin - the recording went really well thanks. I ended up doing it with a guy in Muswell Hill in London. He's a sound engineer at a folk venue called The Green Note. It's off getting mastered at the moment in Chicago - all very exciting! I'm going to be home in September so if you're keen / available to play at some launch shows I'd love to have you along. Speak soon
All these enticing messages about a folk machine, campfires n whisky are making me homesick! :)...nice! Enjoy guys!! Hopefully can catch last one! cheers, simon.
Dan Lethbridge continues his June residency at Wesley Anne this Thursday with support
from one Tim Cannon. Come warm yourself by the open fire, have a drink
and relax with some fine music.
Hi Justin, many thanks for the add. I just wanted to let you and your friends know that my roots and blues trio (Trigger) is having a CD launch on Friday 12th June at the Davilak in Freo. We also have the awesomely talented Mike de Velta appearing as well as the very danceable Dilip and the Davs. No cover charge and plenty of good music and good will. If any of you are in town and at a loose end, feel free to pop in for a listen. Respect and good wishes mate, Chris.
I'm sure there was a reason for me asking that but I've forgotten it now. How's the recording going? I might be back in September.. Will it be done by then?
