Meet JAI, lyricist, accomplished vocalist, host and life poet. Take a talented approach on words, an insightful view on life; add a sprinkle of swagger mixed with a vibrant personality to get just a taste of what this 24 year old female mastermind has to offer.
Hailing from South West London, JAI (pronounced J) insists that it was her inquisitive nature and challenging childhood that brought about her passion for Hip-Hop. Raised on a diverse cocktail of music, it’s no wonder Jai brings such a diverse sound together through her music and artistry. ‘I grew up listening to anything from Tracy Chapman to the Pogues to Bob Marley, I loved it all’
As a child JAI had a love for words and language. She began writing at a young age. In her early teens she spent hours writing poetry in her room, this later became the rhymes and syllable immaculate flows that have won her admiration all over the London Hip hop circuit.
Jai is a vibrant comical presenter and hostand previously had her own show on Invincible radio called The Sicka Selektion which saw her various talents emerge expand beyond her MC roots. In 2007 Jai’s urge to gain a wider fan base and build bridges between the underground and commercial scenes have seen her sought out and selected to host various events and functions including hosting newly formed Hip Hop night BAMPOT and BROADMIX LIVE SESSIONS which take place monthly in Sound, Leicester Square.
Herstory vol 1(Her 1st release recorded alongside Diva Spark) was released early 2007. Jai’s solo mixtape ON MY JAI’S-THE PRELUDE is set for release 09/09/09 and you can safely say she’s set for big things in 2009.
