Why j-a-q-i?
Must originality be defined?
Is uniqueness a gift to embrace or a crime?
Can we just breathe, believe and elevate our minds
And go beyond the box
To receive a serious, yet sanctified vibe
Designed to make us sing, dance, pray, shout
Lose our sin-lovin minds!
And forgive, achieve, cry, believe
But definitely not justify
Whats wrong in black and white
Why j-a-q-i?
Because God said so, and thats deep
No apologies, just jaqi!
Catapulting beyond the box of traditional Gospel and Christian Contemporary genres, jaqi has redefined the voice of Inspirational music. Marrying clearly stated lyrics with aggressive yet soulful melodies and rhythms, jaqi leaves no room for misinterpretation.
This Washington, DC native attributes an essential part of her artistic growth and development to her collegiate experience at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she studied under the late great Alvin Batiste, and performed with various accomplished musicians. It was, however, the spiritual awakening after college that totally transformed jaqi's song and reconstructed her life.
The debut album, "just jaqi" is a delectable blend of urban musical styling and powerful lyrical artistry. This unique artist promises to vocally soothe, while challenging you mentally and spiritually. Simply stated, just jaqi.
