We do realize that you cannot completely rid the world of plastic, but there ARE MANY alternatives, like using ONLY plastics that are easily recycled, or using new plastics that are made from corn and bio sources which are renewable, and not from petroleum, and petroleum byproducts. Lets focus on just shopping bags... For starters we recommend using recycled re-useable cloth bags like ours that are made from textile wastes and recycled soda bottles. We can't think of ANY intelligent reasons to use 12 million BARRELs, NOT GALLONS, BARRELS of oil a year in order to carry our groceries home....a bag that will take 1000 years to break down, and while doing so, will just leach poison into the ground? can you? When there is a simpler, easier solution,that can not only save the oil, but also reduces the waste from the textile and plastic waste stream and save our grocers BILLIONS of dollars a year.....! We agree that resources are almost maxed out in every sector, and that is exactly what drives this myspace page, and our banplastic.com site that will be back up and running within the week. We realize that plastic is ONE of hundreds of different fronts to attack, and that we need to stop having so many kids, and we need to consume less, and drive less/or drive alternative energy cars (banplastic.com uses a veggie oil powered mercedes diesel), but saving the pollution from 12 million barrels of oil, and the 500 BILLION bags that enter the waste stream EVERY YEAR, or worse as litter on land and in our oceans will greatly save our "maxed out" resources and reduce pollution and greenhouse gas. Hopefully you can see the very simple and common sense solution within, and be on board. Ireland, Australia, and many other nations see the solutions, and have already or are working on bans of paper and plastic bags.San Fransico and many other U.S. cites are following suit.Hopefully soon there will be a stiff tax on using the bags which

Only we can change the course of the future and it must begin with each of us individually empowering collective action. There is so much hurt and hate in this world now but also a lot of growing love by all those who are actively cultivating this and helping it blossom forth within ourselves by helping and sharing and growing seeds of love through acts of kindness and generosity planting the future for a better world. Weeds that grow amongst the good fruit must be pulled out and in the seeming process of cleansing and rejuvenation, what we see as innocent persons, are hurt, while others are taken away from our midst forever leaving behind a void that can only be filled when we ourselves find and activate the courage to overcome grief and loss thus being born again in love, peace, harmony and understanding with compassion being the propeller that gives flight to good deeds and a better outcome. Shine your light upon the world and make the darkness that is now over running things disappear. Do what you can to change yourself and be at peace with who you are and what you’ve done. This is called progress. Forgive yourself and forgive others this is the cleansing remedy prescribed by life. Remember with loss something new is always born. Let us activate this new birth to be the light that shines upon us illuminating the future in reflection as to what God intended for us to have, paradise.
