The Mixtape Awards was established in 1995 by Orpheous “Justo” Faison, to help cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the Disc Jockey - from the club and radio DJ to platinum selling artists signed to major record labels. The Mixtape Awards is designed to honor DJs and Artist who constantly raise the bar within the music industry. Heralded by MTV News as “the Grammy Awards of the streets”, the Mixtape Awards accomplishes its mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community as well as the general public.
