HEAR OUR FOUNDER SPEAK ABOUT CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE AND WHAT WE CAN EACH DO TO END IT!-- RADIO INTERVIEW--Do you know that approximately one out of three of our girls, and about one out of six boys will be sexually abused by the time they turn 18?
It is true. Sadly, over half of them will never tell anyone about the abuse. Many will bear it for years in silence. That is why I started a new non-profit organization called Just Tell, to encourage kids to tell a trust-worthy adult if they are being molested. We are reaching out to kids who are being sexually abused to tell them:
- that it happens to a lot of other kids;
- that they didn't do anything to cause it to happen to them;
- that they bear no blame and should feel no guilt and no shame; and
- that it's really important they pick an adult they trust and tell them about the abuse.
If you are a teen and would like to help our outreach to kids by starting your own Street Team, just email us at StreetTeams@JustTell.org! And...thank you for caring!!!
My enormous gratitude to the kids of Team Just Tell --who are too many to name-- but special mention to: Hannah, Kyle, Greta, Yazzy, Jessica, Dawn, Dom, Ashley, Eric, Stacy, Camille & Christopher, to our interns: Mara, Binta, Aviva, Simone; to Chris Mena who designed our T shirts, Wallet Cards, Stickers and Street Team MySpace; to Just Tell's Adult Boards of Directors and Advisors: Lauren, Michael, Tatiana, Samantha, Marla, Nancy and Becky; to our graphics and printing help, our pro bono attorneys (especially Neil!), accountants and other professionals; to all of our friends here on MySpace; and most importantly….to all kids everywhere who believe in what Just Tell is about… especially our wonderful Online Youth Advisory Group and all the AMAZING kids of School of the Future, Millennium, ICE and other NYC public schools...for believing in Just Tell and for helping us encourage kids to JUST TELL! You guys ROCK!
Just Tell received confirmation of its 501(c)(3) status in April of 2007. We are now a non-profit organization incorporated and registered in New York State. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you would like to help us as we begin our outreach to kids, please visit our website at www.JustTell.org to donate! I am so moved by your responses to Just Tell. Your interest and your offers to help Just Tell are amazing and we thank you.
If you would like to be a part of Just Tell, please send me your email address or write to us at Info@JustTell.org.
Thank you for joining us. Together we can help children who are being sexually abused to be safe again!
I wish you each much happiness...and peace.
