Music itself. As far as producers or rappers, My man JAY DEE Stands all on his own. Hes the greatest there ever was, God Bless His Soul. Id say Alchemist, Kanye, Dr.Dre, No I.D., Common, Malik Yusef, Biggie and Pac, Nas and Jay, KRS, Mos Def, Lupe, Talib, Seal. Shit TOO many to name.
He hops on the Red Line to Downtown, rocking the signature grey beanie and broken-in hoodie that seems to sum up his existence. Admiring the color blue and subconsciously appreciating the musical genius of Prince, Michael Jackson, and J-Dilla, he stops into the nearest 7-Eleven to grab his beloved Peanut M&Ms and sour apple suckers. As he travels to his newest destination, he remembers last night’s episode of Naruto Animé, all the while bobbing his head to his greatest and most precious love, music.
Meet Just Thought.
Soaring from the South Side of Chicago, the bitter and obvious segregation of this city runs miles away from the musical entrée that Just Thought brings to the table. An enemy of conformity, stagnation and miscommunication, this ultra-talented rapper and producer wins the battle of blurring the lines of genres with graceful ease.
Combining his first and eternal passion for hip-hop with the influential sounds of alternative and classic rock, it’s hard to tell if Coldplay or Nas are his target audience. And Just is fine with that.
A lover of the timeless sounds of an orchestra, he uses any and everything that can evoke passion, lust and obsession, regardless of the category it falls under. If buildings and screaming yet muted Japanese people were genres, Just describes himself as Godzilla, annihilating the city beneath him without looking back.
“Music is the universal language. It bonds us all; people can relate to music more than anything. Even the Bible says music is the highest form of praise,” Just Thought believes.
Whether it’s the Word that tells him so or the incessant pounding of music in his heart, he knows that he wasn’t put on this earth to do anything else.
In an industry where quality and heart have succumbed to material and lack of substance, Just Thought knows that being true to himself is his only option.
While rapping has tragically become more of a hobby than an actual skill, Just Thought separates himself from the infinite amount of others who say they can spit. Bringing miles and miles of true and heartfelt lyrics, Just raps as if music is all he has to give, not as if it’s just something to do.
This is life for him. Music is life for him.
With goals to inspire people to dream, uplifting minds with the undeniable power of music and art, and hoping to one day take a seat in a velvet chair at the Grammys , Just Thought simply wants to fly.
