Influenced by the burgeoning alternative rock & grunge scene of the 1990’s Seattle, lead guitarist Hisham and bassist Khuzairie got together with a few college mates to form a grunge band in the late fall of 1998. They went out to perform in small student gigs, covering popular grunge tunes of the time, as well as playing some of their own material. However, the band disbanded when Hisham went on a hiatus
Hisham then went on to pursue his studies in Music Production & Sound Engineering. It was in the course of his studies that Hisham, with Khuzairie riding shotgun, recorded his first video single, King Of Kings, in 2003. Immediately after his graduation, they seriously began preparing for the release of their maiden EP in September 2004
Still without a convincing lineup, Hisham and Khuzairie brought in Azeem, an architecture major, to fill in the slot at the front mike. Azeem's laid-back demeanor is a stark contrast to his powerful presence on stage, as fans would attest. It was Azeem who came up with the moniker JuxtaposeD, which meant “placed side by side”, as a new calling card for the band. The name stuck
The multi-talented twin brothers, rhythm guitarist Nazrin and drummer Nazmin, finally completed the band’s lineup in the early spring of 2007. A year later, JuxtaposeD marked their spectacular debut on stage by finishing third place in the Road To Soundstage 2008, a battle-of-the-bands competition organized by ROTTW, the most influential rock music publication in Malaysia
Coming in hot from their impressive victorious debut, JuxtaposeD launched their landmark Mad Jester EP in August 2008, which includes their hit singles
Mad Jester, Castaway, and Pure
