Jyn Yates launched her drum career at the tiny age of three when she first picked up a pair of drum sticks and started to roll. After learning techniques from her fellow drummer and father, who played in various rock bands throughout the 70's, she quickly was thrust into the veins of rock in roll of the early 80's and has continued playing for nearly three decades.
She first sat behind a set of drums at the tender age of three and made her stage debut at thirteen, opening for Tim McGraw and later the Kentucky Headhunters. With a huge musical family including a grandma who played the banjo, dulcimer and more, music was a likely choice. The Clash and Red Hot Chili Peppers probably wasn’t what they had in mind but that’s what led Jyn to where she is today. Along the way she played drums with members of Steve Wariner’s band, opened for Tiffany, Sarah Bettens of K's Choice, Bluegrass Banjo master Steve Cooley, Nashville recording artist Jenn Foster, and for many other bands. She has also appeared as a studio musician on countless projects. She has also performed in theatre performances at Actor's Theatre of Louisville and The Kentucky Center For The Arts as well as at the Youth Performing Arts at DuPont Manual High School and has worked with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre of New York. On occasion she performs hand drum clinics for children.
Jyn currently teaches students throughout the week at Mom’s Music in Louisville. She also plays clarinet, saxophone, marimba, and all percussion instruments and is endorsed by Swirly Gigs!

"In a world where celebrity equals talent, and where make-believe is called reality, it is most important to have real love, truth and stability in your life."
This is so true. I have found that having real love in my life to be so grounding and does not alow me to get stuck in make-believe land. Remember to seek out and treasure love in all forms.
