  • Bio

Jypsi is among the most talented and eclectic acts in modern music. They occupy a space where genres melt away, where soaring harmonies and world-class musicianship meet in a swirl of color and energy. The sibling quartet has assembled an enviable list of accomplishments across a wide swath of the musical landscape. They have made their mark on Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, the Austin City Limits Festival and others, "dazzling audiences with their instrumental and vocal chops, sex appeal and artistic chutzpah," in the words of the L.A. Times. They made their initial mark on country, bringing a background steeped in everything from bluegrass to alt rock to bear on their own sound. The Nashville Scene called them "one of the most impressive combinations of sight and sound Nashville's fabled honky-tonks have ever known." They quickly earned a deal with Arista Records, played the Grand Ole Opry and placed two songs on the country charts, hitting the Top 40 with "I Don't Love You Like That." If their subsequent work has a sharper edge, a bigger beat and a deeper groove, it features the same breathtaking vocals, with lead vocalist Lillie Mae's power and grace held aloft by the harmonies of Frank and Amber-Dawn, as Frank's dazzling guitar work anchors an instrumental line-up featuring Scarlett's soaring mandolin work and the high-voltage fiddle playing of Lillie Mae and Amber-Dawn. Their fashion sense makes them a symphony of sight as well as sound, and they have earned public raves from artists ranging from Keith Urban to Snow Patrol. Their journey has given them a resume that includes work with a Who's Who of producers from across the spectrum, including Don Was, Nathan Chapman, Desmond Child, Blake Chancey, Tony Brown, Frank Liddell and Cowboy Jack Clement, who discovered and brought them to Nashville. They have shared stages with artists ranging from Ronnie Milsap to Hootie & the Blowfish, appeared on Don Imus's radio show, provided music for "Desperate Housewives" and "Country Strong," and toured Europe. As they continue to win new fans and earn the respect of an ever-widening circle of their peers, it’s clear that the story of Jypsi is just beginning. By Rob Simbeck
