Jzelynn and Cloverleaf Records, in collaboration with Bimbit.com, have released the country’s first locally produced Tri-Lingual “Digital” Album entitled “Percaya”. Jzelynn is a seasoned musician, who has performed in most
major events in Penang as well as other parts of the country. Her current hit single “Pesanan Ringkas” (which is included in this album) has recently hit the no.1 spot on Channel V online Malaysia AMP Chart. She is also currently
the brand ambassador of Reebok, Baptain Salon and Tripo-X in Malaysia.
This tri-lingual album contains 6 songs of multiple genres (3 Malay, 2 English and 1 Chinese), among them is a song entitled “Change – a tribute to the environment” written in conjunction with Penang’s “No-plastic” campaign. This song was performed by Jzelynn; written by Mervynn Chan; arranged and
produced by PC Fong from Hits Recording Studios – of whom all are Penangites. This song which features children choir as part of it, was inspired by a recent government waste management carnival that Steve Tan, the founder of Cloverleaf Records attended, on an invitation from YB Mr. Phee Boon Poh – Penang exco chairman for Health, Welfare, Caring Society & Environment and Majlis Perbandaran Seberang Prai. Work is currently in progress for the song to be produced in Malay and Chinese languages. Steve Tan and Jzelynn hope to gain air play for all these songs, in hope to inspire more people to embrace changes in order to make the world a better place.
Taking this one step further to walk the talk, Cloverleaf Records and Jzelynn then decided to produce an album using minimal plastics – a digital album (to coincide with the no-plastic campaign). This environmental friendly album and the song “Change” a tribute to the environment will be launched by
YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister of Penang. Part of the proceeds from this album will also be channeled towards Penang’s Partners against Poverty (Rakan Anti Kemiskinan) Fund as part of Cloverleaf Records and Bimbit.com’s CSR initiatives.
The concept of digital album is something new to Malaysians. Instead of a CD, a scratch card is included in the album, thus reducing the amount of plastic used in manufacturing this album since there are no plastic CD, CD covers etc. When one purchased the album, he / she then scratches the card to reveal a series of PIN numbers which can be used to “redeem” the album at Bimbit.com’s music portal. The album can then be downloaded onto your PC legally, and be ripped into CD or any portable music format. Though the whole idea of not getting CDs is rather new to Malaysians, the whole scratch card and redemption experience is very close to that of our prepaid telco services. Cloverleaf Records and Bimbit.com believe that the acceptance rate of this new concept will take off soon.
Being the country’s first locally produced tri-lingual digital album, this attempt has been endorsed by Malaysia Book of Records, who is present at the launch to officiate this, witnessed by YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng and YB Mr. Phee Boon Poh as well.
