We are trying to change this profile to a "Band" profile, so more songs can be played. In the meantime, please listen at "Kahuli Music" (in our Friends' section). You can also watch our music video for our live recording of "Burn" in our "videos" section, above. Mahalo!!
Heroes
Here are some of the great muscians, warriors, educators and peacemakers who have inspired our music and lives:
Kawaipuna Prejean, Kahoolawe 1976 Liko, Kawaipuna & Mel Kalahiki playing "Hawaii Loa" (its debut at Iolani Palace)
Photos are from Ian Linds awesome historical gallery...check it out!!
Kawaipuna was a legendary Kanaka Maoli performer who shared our struggle with the world, dedicating his life and music to the struggle of Kanaka Maoli, humanity, and mother Earth. He taught us a lot about music, organizing, life and "decolonizing the mind, unchaining the brain".
Kupuna Tom Maunupau
pictures are from Na Maka O Ka Aina. They have the best videos on the Kanaka Maoli movement anywhere. Check them out! from the Chris Ijima memorial Page
and from the AIA museum page.
Chris Iijima was a mentor to TJ in both music and law; he and his band "A Grain of Sand" highlighted the struggles of Asians in America and the greater struggle for human freedom.

About me: We haven't been able to convert this page to a "Band" profile yet, SO we're slowly moving over to http://www.myspace.com/kahulimusic, where we've posted some songs...
Kahuli (see kahuli.org)is an multi-genre, indigenous-roots musical group from Oahu, Hawaii. We are brothers and sisters of Aloha Aina, making a unique sound to resonate the planet with love. We have musical influences from Hawaii, Guam, Okinawa, Africa and the Earth as a whole. We combine our ancestral knowledge with electric rhythms and creative force to celebrate life and manifest pono as change unfolds in our world...

This show is held in honor of Janel Tupuola, beaten to death in Kailua by her boyfriend with a shotgun Jan 16th of this year; and Jenny Hartsock, stabbed to death by her husband in Kalihi on Jan 10th of this year. Our condolences go out to their friends and families.

This night will also include performances by special guest artists: Giinko Marischino, Tuia'ana Scanlan, Dar'ron Cambra, Tiare Mata, Lyz Soto, Stri, and more...

Just dropping by to say that in celebration of the rare Ancient Future Guitar-Sitar Jugalbandi show March 31, 2007, at Northern California's Larkspur Cafe Theatre, we have finally added our fourth myspace song: a live version of the song Socha Socha from the Planet Passion CD that was recorded for the Echoes Radio Living Room Concert Series. For a limited time only, we are offering it as a free download. It's not available on iTunes or any other download site, and it will be removed on April 1, so download it while you can. Hope you enjoy this gift to our myspace friends!
Already a month into 2007 - can you believe it? I hope the year is treating you good so far...
Lots of exciting things going down this year...the work of NVision is stepping up (have you seen the promo?! DOPE!), doing some communications work and PR for two amazing organizations, the Native American Rights Fund (WAIT until you see what we got going down with NARF) and the International Indian Treaty Council and as always...snapping pics of the world around me. It's going to be a good year so STAY TUNED. One of the easiest ways is to stay informed is to subscribe to my blog on Myspace. Check it out…
